My design for Ben and Esther's other brother that was mentioned in episode eight when Esther was showing Ben her secret lab. She says "It's not like I can do black magic in the hotel. I mean, I can, but it didn't work out for our brother."
I like 99% sure it was just a joke but I still took it and decided to design them a whole other sibling.
He is very much based on Togore who is a meme character in the Deltarune fandom. He's a made up character that people created based on how Asriel's name is a combination of his parents names Toriel and Asgore. Taking the last part of Toriel and the first part of Asgore. With Togore they did the opposite for his name. He is usually portrayed as the middle child.
He started as a joke character but became really popular so now he is a character that doesn't really exist in game but the fandom wildly accepts as a character.
When imagining what a hypothetical third sibling for Ben and Esther (besides Abaddon lol) would be like I kept picturing a Togore like character. Mainly because he probably doesn't really exist in the show and was most likely just a joke.
So I based his design on Togore a lot. I did consider just giving him a green and yellow striped sweater but it really didn't look good and it clashed with the other characters. I really wasn't sure what colors to use because the main cast is mostly wearing a red blue green yellow color scheme. The members of the family that are related are wearing those colors and they look like a box of crayons. Abaddon's blue is a little different but when you put him with just the kids it looks mostly like a primary color scheme and it all looks good together. So with all of the cast wearing these bright basic colors I wasn't sure what else would look natural standing next to them. I decided I mainly wanted his colors to look nice standing next to the other kids. I narrowed it down to yellow or purple because most others clashed too much, I also tried a tan striped sweater but he just didn't look like he belonged with that.
I'm still not sure if I want to go with the yellow or purple. I like the yellow best because it looks the most natural next to the other kids and it is the most Togore like, but it's also really similar to Katherine's yellow jacket and I don't know if I care if they are wearing similar colors or not. The pants and shoes are completely different so I think it keeps it from clashing too much with her. The purple I like by itself but it just doesn't look right next to the others to me. What do you think looks best?
I went with a lighter hair color because I was trying to make him look a bit like Togore, I couldn't go with white lol so I went with blond because Asgore has blond hair so I thought maybe Togore would if he were a human.
For the name I decided to go with Konner because I wanted the name to be a combination of Ron and Katherine's but there are very few combinations that sound good while still keeping some of the letters from their names in order. So the K comes from the start of Katherine the on is from Ron the other n and the er are from Katherine.
So I've had this idea in my head for a while and somewhere along the way I forgot what the original line was. I thought it had something to do with Esther saying she couldn't do black magic in the house because it didn't turn out well for their brother. I thought maybe this something happened before they moved to the hotel so when they did move she made a secret lab to do black magic in instead of practicing it in the hotel.
So I was wondering how they might have had a brother that Ben didn't remember or know about (I know the joke if it wasn't a joke would imply that somehow a magic spell went wrong and something happened to their brother that also made people forget about him)
So I had started headcannoning that their brother was their dad's affair kid (he just seems like the type of guy that would have an affair and a kid he didn't tell his family about) and Esther found out about him or met him and Esther was trying to teach him about Black magic and he did something wrong with a spell and it made him disappear (or he died or was horrifically injured) and nobody else met him or found out about him or knew what happened to him. In this version maybe the name Konner was a spiteful inside joke Ron had with himself.
But going back and watching the episode and seeing what the actual line was made me not sure if I wanted to go with that or if he's just their sibling from both their parents. Maybe him and Esther were experimenting with spells while in the hotel and he messes something up (I don't want it to be completely Esther's fault so I like to think he was just really inexperienced with this stuff and made some kind of mistake) and it erases him from everyone's memories and makes him disappear. I like to think even Esther doesn't remember him most of the time, only certain things make her remember him but then she forgets or can't hold onto the memory for very long. Like, everyone feels like they are forgetting something or that there's something wrong but only Esther really remember's him at all because she was there when the spell went wrong. Maybe they eventually find a way to bring him back.
I'm not sure which version of his origin I want to go with (probably the second one even though I am a bit attached to the first one even though it wouldn't really make much sense but on the other hand Esther is 11 and Ben is 13 and with him as the middle child that would have Katherine pushing out a kid like every year and I don't like that at all) but I definitely want to keep the part about the spell making him disappear and erasing him from everyone's memories.
Anyways feel free to come up with other ideas or origins for him that I didn't think of
