Haha and by the way, Abaddon had been abused by nearly everyone who’d owned that property for three hundred years. Each new owner had come up with some method to “deal with him”. The mentioned ones are attempting to drown him, burying him alive, sending him to a boarding school that’s implied to have hurt him, and chaining him up in an attic. This is still a child. He was only ever following his impulses.
Reminder that he had learned that humanity was unkind via this. He expected everyone to treat him like a problem to get rid of. And then Nathan appeared, helped him out of that hole, and took him in. Nathan was gentle, kind, and always gave Abaddon more chances than anyone ever had. He saw Nathan as a father and felt an affection in his chest he was unable to recognize. They spent time together. For the first time in thousands of years, Abaddon felt safe with someone.
and reminder that Abaddon was the one who found his limp body in that chair, TV still playing, and realized what had happened. He probably sat in Nathan’s lap one last time, quietly, waiting for the ghost to appear, cursing as he wondered what he’d done wrong.
and he had to live through that every. single. time. he replayed the universe.
