Whitepine cast!

"I've already taken the lives of enough innocent people," he said when asked why he never reported her to the authorities because even if his reporting her would not take her life in the literal sense, it could very well steal her future or at least a chunk of it. I find it so interesting despite the amounts of times he slashed her it never fully impeded her ability to fight and how just days later she's up and walking fine, healed up. How much thought was used in pulling those slashes, contending with his prey animal brain to not kill in an attempt to spare himself.

Further, I wonder if he thought of his father's stolen future laying in the hospital and all the time he mourned not being able to live the remainder of his life outside its white walls. I wonder if Kantje thought of his entire family when fighting in the woods after all, they're what he did this all for. I wonder if Kantje thought about the very real possibility this could be his last moments alive and how he'd never get to see his family again, never get to finally pay their medical bills off, that they may never know what happened to their son - or worse, find out exactly where that blood money came from and what kept them out of debt and ruin. I wonder if he thought about that as he fought back trying to spare his own life and yet swiped at Ivory so uselessly as he thought about how he didn't want to take her down with him, how he likely deserved it, how many parents of the Whitepine staff would never hear from their own children again.
