bliss spoilers for quakitus's character again
hi this is the post about the quakituses
for brevity I will be referring to the two quakituses. quakiti. with the nicknames me and my friends have been using for them: tulip (the one seen in the error messages) and wildfire (the one we currently see directly interacting with the server). the nickname tulip chosen because Ok well that's just canonically the symbol associated with her. the nickname wildfire chosen because of 1. the heavy associations with fire (burning symbols of attachment, burning bridges, even,) and being hostile towards tulip (wildfires being fires that destroy plantlife) 2. being referred to as a 'wildcard' semi-frequently, and 3. computer firewall pun. Also It's Cool
my take on quakitus's two different selves is that they're sort of like. split self-states that individually each use quakitus's two different major coping mechanisms—those being self-destructive people pleasing (tulip) and self-rationalization of her trauma (and subsequent actions) through the lens of control (wildfire).
it's inaccurate to say either of them are "actually" quakitus, real/fake debate isn't worth the time etc etc. they're both quakitus and are treated as such, it's just that the trauma that q goes through quite literally breaks her mind into two. the logic I generally try to treat them with is that tulip and wildfire have different mindsets and trains of thought and thus can argue with eachother, but both of them as quakitus have the same actions and consequences. their senses of self are a little more complicated. wildfire describes their shared past like she "wasn't herself" and Likely Tulip? during the 2nd firefly stream referring to Probably Wildfire as someone "trying to get rid of her", but I think both of them do think of themselves as "quakitus". they just have differing ideas of who "quakitus" is.
tulip and wildfire are quakitus's extreme binary black/white thinking taken to the super-duper extreme. so it's a little funny that both of them are the same person—"both at once" sort of breaking the binary in of itself. but that is also contextualized with the fact that. I think both of them hate that the other exists. we saw wildfire's own crashout and attempts (and failure) to erase tulip ourselves, but I also think there's something there in tulip pushing traditional attachments onto wildfire ("you still care about him") and thus trying to bring wildfire closer to how she thinks. and I am like 70% convinced tulip was the version of quakitus active during torchblossom if she's the caring people pleaser part, so that reminds me a lot of how quakitus used to treat stormz's black-wings state. as a monster to be tamed instead of someone to meet on their own terms. despite tulip seeming to be "nicer" and more "morally correct" than wildfire when she showed up during 'the plunge' I think having her in charge (again? question mark?) is just making quakitus regress back to her torchblossom character which is just fucked up in another direction. Both extremes are bad and if quakitus wants to actually grow as a person both sides need to work together..... I however want them to argue forever because it's more entertaining for me personally #GETWORSE
and, full disclosure this is a theory with like no evidence other than a viberead because we just got introduced to this concept. but I also think that wildfire's insistence on rejecting anything and everything that tulip stands for might also extend to her calling everything since gilded Fake and All Apart Of Her Evil Plans. as in, all of q's actions during eras like TB were infact genuine on tulip's end at the time, but since then wildfire has, for lack of a better term, 'taken over' and is now trying to justify those actions with her own mindset. tbh Ive been trying to think on how things like quakitus mentally spiraling while alone (and thus having noone to perform the so-called "act" to) fits into the "I was faking it all along" narrative for a while because. frankly I think lying to your audience like that if chat isn't explicitly canon to the character isn't very fun for analysis LOL. I think it being wildfire lowkey #coping makes sense though
