I don’t think it was worded that way, I read it as she doesn’t have a chaos system, and -also- she isn’t marked like other protagonists.

I may have read through the IGN article quickly, this is the quote that gave me this idea.

“Protagonist Billie Lurk isn’t marked by the outsider, so she’s not part of his game which sees him testing his subjects and judging them for it. In other words, the broader world of Death of the Outsider won’t change depending on your actions as it has in other games.“

Now of course, this isn’t quoted from someone directly working on the game so it may be off the mark here. I still find it iffy the suggestion that since Billie is not a marked individual that she won’t have such a large impact on the world.

honestly, People have this really weird hate thing about Daud to the point that if someone isn't hating on him, they are wrong. I admit that I wasn't a huge fan of Daud, but now with different thoughts coming through my head, reading different people's posts since DOTO's announcement, it makes me view the character differently and makes me see that he isn't just a one dimensional killer.

Right?? Ever since the DotO announcement there’s been all this Daud hate coming out of the woodwork in the fandom tags and it’s so...WEIRD. Especially since a lot of the hate (in my opinion) seems to be based on some fundamental misunderstandings about Daud as a character.

I don’t like Daud as a person (he’s a dick and a murderer, let’s be honest) but I do love him as a character. I think he’s got a lot of depth and nuance.

I really enjoyed his struggle coming to terms with murdering Jessamine in Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches, but I don’t actually see that struggle being his redemption the way a lot of people seem to? The way I see it, fighting Corvo in Brigmore Witches (and ultimately being spared by him) was when Daud realized he can pursue redemption. That redemption is possible.

As this post said, it was Daud’s acceptance that he’s “someone who has the power and sense of self to make their own moral choices and accept the outcome of those choices.”

I think if we’re gonna see Daud’s redemption, it didn’t happen in Brigmore Witches -- but it might happen in DotO.

I’m like the queen of making all my fics and stuff borderline shippy, but I also really delve into the politics and lore of the world, I try to stay within how I think the characters would actually act, unless it’s AU, then i have free reign. My fics are always story first, side plot of romance.

Yeah! I def don’t think shippy fic is “lesser” or anything like that. I’ve read and written more than my fair share! And yeah, same, when I do write romance I tend to make it a sideplot rather than the central story.

There’s just so MUCH of it in the DH fandom, mostly for the same two or three popular ships, and a lot of it does end up being OOC in my opinion. I haven’t read enough DH fanfic to know all of what’s out there, of course, but a lot of what I have read kinda seems to vastly oversimplify many of the characters, and sometimes even the world itself.
