En el caso de la ilusión perceptiva [de Müller-Lyer], cuando la persona es advertida de que no puede confiar en lo que percibe y se le hace ver que ambas líneas son de igual magnitud, corrige su ilusión perceptiva e informa correctamente de lo que ahora es una creencia basada en la información objetiva. En contraste con la facilidad con la que corregimos este error perceptivo, la constatación de nuestros errores de calibracióin en los juicios predictivos puede contribuir a que aceptemos el hecho intelectualmente, pero es poco probable que produzca un impacto real sobre nuestros sentimientos y modifique nuestras acciones futuras.
