1. 99.9% of the adults are branded with a sigil, since getting one is a requirement upon reaching maturity in this society. And those branded with sigils are bound to their magic type and are presumably going to be weakened/hurt on the day of unity.
2. Despite this, adults DO help. Eda helps, Lilith helps, principal bump helps, raine and Darius and eber help- theyre NOT just leaving it up to the kids, even though the high school army is basically gonna be the last line of defense once everyoneâs sigils activate and they go all weak, since kids are the only ones who donât have sigils yet (and belos saw this potential threat thus why he sent Adrian to brand all the teens early so they wouldnât be able to help fight him either)
Itâs just very fresh and different and I like it. We still have our Teen Protags but the adults arenât useless AND thereâs an in-universe explanation as to why the adults canât just do everything themselves (even though we see that they DO try to! Eda telling Luz to run and hide etc)

i saw a person say once that people pleasing is a form of manipulation and i think they were stupid and kinda wrong, because theres a not more nuance to a lot of behaviors than just... like calling everything a trauma response or manipulation
however i do think that being a chronic people pleasure is pretty much... like it CAN absolutely be a result of trauma or just having shitty friends. like i realized a lot that i'll almost instinctively lie about things that aren't a big deal to begin with; my first instinct is to lie about where i am or where i'm going in the fear that my friends will get angry at me for doing something without them or that doesn't benefit them? its a bad habit to have, but its still no excuse honestly to lie to your current, good, understanding friends about your whereabouts just because of past bad experiences
