The Tory government has totally mishandled the outbreak of Covid 19. We could sit and criticise the government for swaying this way and that in their guidance and their actions since the virus reac…
Jon Bigger in this Freedom magazine piece looks at the Tory administration’s handling of the outbreak of COVID-19 AKA Coronavirus in the United Kingdom and how the mismanagement of the situation by the Conservative Party also illuminates the illness that is in conservatism.
Bigger looks at Boris Johnson’s policies on the COVID-19 outbreak, including the “herd immunity” line and the failing to close the schools (the UK is one of the only countries that has not closed in schools) in contrast to how public areas are closing by themselves. Bigger looks at how bare our system has been left under the Conservatives and the rather concerning positions by the Tories on the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Mutual aid groups are also bought in the article in their need in these times, while also providing a anarchist prospective on the epidemic.
As Bigger concludes:
How things develop in the next few weeks and months is difficult to predict. What we do know is that everyone will be affected somehow by Covid19. No matter how we are each affected we have a choice on how to react. We can see it as an opportunity to make positive changes and do our best to help those around us. Meanwhile we need to be mindful of the harmful and destructive force of conservatism, encouraging us to see economic positives in death and pointing us towards doing nothing to help anyone but ourselves. We need to therefore be extremely sceptical of the Tory government and their supporters.
