This is exactly what is happening before our eyes
One the eve of Burnham’s Bathroom Ban, remember this.
You are loved and there will always be people willing to fight this nonsense.
Use whichever facilities you feel safest and most comfortable using. Surround yourself with supportive people as much as you can.
And most importantly-
Keep being you. Do not admit defeat. Time will show the country just how stupid, unworkable, unfair and pointless this whole ordeal has been.
We will remain. We will fight. We will survive.
The EHRC is not fit for purpose, and neither is the government.
One last thing.
Never EVER let Labour forget what they’ve done here. This mess is theirs. The Tories started it, sure… the Supreme Court made everything worse… but Labour had multiple avenues of cleaning up this mess up.
They chose to proceed with segregation.
Never let them live it down.

so, the EHRC guidance came in today.
just as a reminder: it's the transphobic shift under the tories, the hostile environment heightened by reform and restore, but most of all the cruelty and cowardice of the labour government that got us here. that includes Burnham too, by the way. he had the chance to stop this, or even say anything in opposition to it, yet he chose to do nothing and tone down his opposition to transphobia.
another name to mention: Liz Truss, the woman who sabotaged the EHRC to follow her right-wing, hateful tendencies. the woman whose changes, despite being implemented by the worst ever PM we've had, stayed in the EHRC for long enough to allow the institution to lose its purpose entirely.
also in part to blame: the UK media. channels like GB News, TalkTV and even BBC News, as well as newspapers like the Telegraph, Daily Mail, Times, The Sun, The Express, next to all of them (hell, even the Daily Mirror celebrated the ruling the day after it happened) have been pushing this skewed, hateful view of the trans community for years, growing transphobic movements until they had the power to do that.
but then there's the instigators: the "gender-critical" groups and individuals. Sex Matters. For Women Scotland. J.K Rowling. many others that i either forgot to name or don't care to remember that pushed for this draconian, cruel, flawed and and, let's face it, misogynistic guidance.
just remember: next time you tick a ballot paper for labour, the tories, reform or restore, the next time you see a piece of Harry Potter merch or tune in to watch a new piece of HP media, this is what you're condoning. societal exclusion. alienation. dehumanisation. v-coding. bigotry. misogyny. allowing bigots who "can always tell" to decide what a "real woman" looks like.
one wizard story is not worth the safety of an entire community.
no party that condones or performs this can be the "best option".
there are no excuses for condoning this anymore.
