David Hockney's work was recommended to me after my one on one review meeting. And after looking him up I found his work really inspirational and relatable to my project.
In the early 1980's, the English painter began creating these intricate photo collages that he called 'joiners'. He's really famous for his unique style of photography
I'm a big fan of journaling and collages so I was surprised I haven't heard of him before. He will definitely be a big inspiration to my project.

Joiners for my photography workshop based off of the theme ‘distance forms around our bodies’, inspired by David Hockney’s joiners and the photography of Jingna Zhang. These were done through photoshop, I merged various photos together. I really enjoyed this workshop, I hadn’t done much on photoshop before so this was really new and interesting.
Well... Joiners wasn't exactly my easiest workshop, as I've never been a pro with technology. But im learning and willing to try my hardest.
My first attempt, I wanted to try see if I could get a photo of my duck. Not the easiest as he constantly wanted to move lol I originally wanted to do my joiner printed off so that I come build them in a naive collage way but couldn't quite achieve what I wanted.
My second and final attempt i was really proud of! I wanted to be abit unconventional and build photos and fade them to create a landscape image of an African plain. As I did not have access to Adobe photoshop , I downloaded an app on my phone called PicsArt.
I started off by taking multiple images of these little wooden elephants i have on my mantelpiece. I then took 2 photos of Buddha ornaments.
The were to be in my foreground. For my background I added a photo of a beautiful sunset I took in glastonbury. I added a flock of birds in the top corner and faded them to blend in with the clouds. I then added in a photo of the Tor for a bit of 'spiritual humour' lol and set the opacity to very low so that it would blend into the lower skyline.
Finally I added a cropped version of David Hurleys WW1 photo of the aftermath if a battlefield. I like the deselect trees and felt it was fitting for an 'African landscape'.
