Flag of the "Order of St. John" a knightly order based in of St. John's, Newfoundland, fixated on spreading Anglicanism across post apocalyptic Canada
from /r/vexillology Top comment: Interesting idea.
Need a Camper or RV supplies? Want some Garber's Ice Cream? Need groceries? Fresh meats? A Tan? Gently Used Clothing? Hardware? Hunting and or Fishing supplies? Fireworks? A Confederate flag? Piano Lessons? Guitar Lessons? A Handy Man? Sporting goods? Hard to find gifts? Music? Musical instruments? Live bait or Gas? GET ON DOWN TO JOHN'S! According to the signs this place has it all and the thought of a tanning bed some where way in a back room is in no way terrifying.
Tomb of Knight of Order of St John by Michael Jones Via Flickr: The whole marble floor is an entire series of tombs, housing about 400 Knights and officers of the Order of St John. In the 11th century the Knights of Malta, known then as ‘Knights Hospitaller’, established a hospital in Jerusalem to care for pilgrims of any religious faith or race. The work of the hospitallers grew in fame and in 1113 Pope Paschal II officially recognised the monastic community as a lay religious order. The Pope identified the Hospitaller Gerard as the Order’s founder, together with an established group of monks – the ‘Professed’ – who are still at the heart of the Order of Malta today. Throughout the centuries the number of members coming from all over Europe continued to grow and contributed to the strengthening of the Order during its presence in Rhodes (1310-1522) and in Malta (1530-1798).
