if you treat the life series like theyre all different reincarnations or something of the same people trapped in different killing games, theres actually a lot of angst to joelscar because think about their 'alliance' from third life + magic mountain ( initially anyway ) to then limited life where i just watched joel blow his ass up with a tnt minecart and when they spoke after scar just silently turned his back to him. the amount of times theyve backstabbed each other and/or used each other but start nearly every series with cheerful silly greetings. yeah .
