You’re grounded!…

Half of China Southern Airlines’ fleet of 24 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airliners sit grounded in this captivating formation at an airport in China.

The 737 MAX 8 only recently came into service with airlines around the world in May 2017.

After two fatal crashes of MAX 8 aircraft in October 2018 and March 2019, regulatory authorities the world over grounded the aircraft series until further notice.

(And all 367 MAX 8s remain grounded as of this writing -- June 19, 2019. There are indications these aircraft could remain grounded through the remainder of 2019 until the aircraft control problems are resolved and the aircraft recertified by a number of national and international agencies.)

(Note: China Southern Airlines has a huge fleet of over 600 airliners and cargo liners. So, the grounding of its 24 737 MAX 8 aircraft has had a relatively minor effect on the sprawling airline. Smaller airlines have been harder hit.)
