Shooting continues at the lot, production is finally ramping up and our beloved actors Vlad and Joel get to talk a bit more. Part 2 chronologically in the au.
Disclaimer: I know nothing about professional acting or studios, lot setup, etc. I will not be looking things up while writing this so if you notice something is blatantly wrong leave a comment about it! This is purely self indulgent and fics will probably be posted out of chronological order in the timeline. (If I write enough Iâll make a timeline list of them tho)
It was obvious to anyone with eyes that Vlad had a busy schedule. Between shooting for arcane and his other projects he was on the production lot practically 24/7 this week. It was mostly other roles heâd booked that he was shooting this week since basically all of his scenes in Arcane involved Joel, who was turning out to be quite the busy man. Theyâd barely spoken since their first official meeting and none of it had even been to run lines! He was a bit worried about that specifically. They were both good actors, but that on screen chemistry didnât always come naturally. It was always good to practice, he thought as he absently massaged a knot in his thigh. It was only in these early hours that he really had time to himself, time to just exist as he is, to not think about his lines or how to say them, and especially not to think about any of his co-stars. It wasnât that he hated them, quite the opposite actually. The ones heâd met so far he gets along with very well, even joining them for lunch when his schedule allows it. Theyâre people he could actually see himself enjoying the company of outside of work. He makes a mental note to invite them all out for drinks this weekend, the ones that were going to be in town for it that is. The problem with his co-stars was actually a singular person, one with striking golden eyes and a face Vlad is sure was sculpted by the gods themselves with the explicit intent to taunt him.Â
The brunette squeezed his eyes shut and brought his mug up off the table to take a long sip of his coffee, to distract his wandering mind. He wasnât going to think about Joel right now. This was his me time, not fantasizing about his coworker time. He had found it too much of a hassle to make the drive back to his apartment the previous night and had opted to instead sleep in his trailer, meaning his clothing for the day were whatever he had supplied for himself when he packed the dressers before it was brought to the lot. A pair of black jeans and a thick dark grey sweater seemed to be his best options that day, it didnât matter too much anyways, he would be in and out of costume all day anyways, this outfit was just for his meal breaks.Â
He was already showered and ready for the day, which he knew was going to be starting soon, it was already- Jesus 8AM? He had to get moving. He stood up as he chugged the rest of his half finished barely lukewarm coffee, rinsing the mug in the sink and moving to the table on the opposite side of his trailer to grab his script and water bottle before descending the steep ass ramp out of his trailer. Skyler should be here soon, he thought absently, should she not? It wasnât like her to be late and call time was slowly approaching. He pulled his phone from his pocket as he let the door shut behind him, did she maybe text him and he just hadnât seen it?Â
Ah. He had a few missed texts it seemed.
Displayed brightly on his screen were three texts, the first from his aforementioned assistant, saying the line at their usual coffee shop had been longer than usual and she was running a bit late, delivered maybe 15 minutes ago. Second was from Viola, a picture heâd have to actually open the message to see and the words âdid you get it yet?????????â received about 3 minutes ago. He didnât need to guess what she meant as yes, he had in fact gotten it. The third text is no doubt what she was referring to, and the one that had initially caught his attention. It was from an unknown number, a simple âthis is joel we should meet to run lines over lunch,â and he definitely wasnât mentally scolding his clothing choice for the day. He didnât have time to dwell on it though as he felt a hand on his shoulder and saw two coffees on a holder come into his line of vision.
âSO sorry for running late Vlad, the line was crazy, even mobile ordering ahead of time they were just slammed.â She sounded out of breath as she spoke to him, her other hand holding the coffee lowering a bit as the hand that had been on his shoulder moved to cover her chest. She looked as professional as ever in her black pantsuit and deep red button up. Her hair was up in a high puff today, a few pieces coming out to frame her face. She moved her free hand to grab her phone from her pocket to go over the itinerary she no doubt had open. âYou have a few new faces for your scenes today, some old ones too I noticed! So we should probably get you there just a pinch ahead of time. Wanna head to the set now?â She finally looked up at him as she caught her breath. Vlad was already looking at her when he opened his mouth to speak. He hadnât thought about a response yet. Sheâd given him plenty of time to refocus himself and yet here he was, still reeling over a text like some teenager. He raised his phone just a bit.
âJoel texted me.â The silence was deafening. Skylar blinked once. Then twice, before finally letting a smirk overtake her face.
âOh did he? And why are you telling me this?â Truth be told he didnât know. Most likely because he hadnât had a coherent thought since she got there and heâd like to believe they are at least on friendly terms by now.Â
âI should respond to it before we head over. It would be rude not to, no?â He turned back to his phone and unlocked it before clicking on the new number to respond, Skyler let out an amused laugh from beside him. He had to send something before he could overthink this, and fast. âYes please omgâ seemed like too much, and a simple âSure.â was definitely too cold, he needed to be professional but enthusiastic about it. He settled on, âIâd actually been meaning to ask you the same, we will discuss further when I get to the set, yes?â He quickly clicked out of their texts to stop himself from rereading it and opened the text from Viola instead. Texting back a quick âI did :3â he looked over the photo she sent. The picture was quite cute to say the least. The camera was at a high angle, only showing her forehead and eyes at the bottom of the screen, the main focus of the photo being Cathrin and Joel a few feet away holding out their phones in front of one another. Was that a blush he saw? He quickly blinked the thought away and pocketed his phone before turning back to Skyler to let her know he was ready to go.
Vlad had finished his second cup of coffee before they even stepped foot onto the set theyâd be at for their first scene. He had to, after nearly spilling coffee on his Academy uniform earlier in the week heâd had to cut back on his on set coffee breaks. Thatâs actually why he was now drinking more water,.much to Skylerâs delight he may add. His cane gave gentle clicks as he moved into view of the set, a dark hallway and a door loomed in front of him, this was their scene breaking into the lab if he was not mistaken. The schedule had said all of their group scenes would be before lunch, which meant this one, the trial with the council, and the scene where they get to be hooked up to a bunch of wires. That one made him a bit uneasy if he was telling the truth, he never liked heights much, and having no experience with being hooked up like that he was unsure of how his leg would handle it. They had a fantastic team helping to make accommodations for him, but heâd had his fair share of bad experiences so it was natural to be cautious.
He was broken from his thoughts as he recognized a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. He adjusted himself to face the newcomer and gave a warm smile, âMiah! I was hoping weâd get a chance to chat before we were called to places. You look wonderful! That makeup was a great choice I must say.â His old friend only laughs in response, head tilting back in amusement before coming to embrace him in a small side hug. There was no lie, she was a vision really, in a beautiful all white dress with gold accents that perfectly matched the jewelry in her hair and makeup painting her face.
âHey Vlad, canât say Iâve seen the costume or makeup department make anyone look bad so far, yourself included. Did they make your moles bigger? And that vest, oh my god!â She circled him once, as if he didnât already know how good he looked right now. âThe lace up sides are a very nice touch, on both you and Mr. Torres over there.â She gestures somewhere behind him and he has to grip his cane a bit tighter to keep himself from shooting around to gawk at the new topic of their conversation. Instead he just gives a light chuckle and takes a breath to respond- âHeâs on his way over.â She says glancing between him and who he can only imagine is the very man that had been capturing every other thought heâd had for the past week. His eyes crease at the corners every so slightly as he turns to look over a shoulder to greet the new addition to their conversation with a polite smile.Â
âJoel, how good to see you again, have you met Miah yet? Sheâll be playing Mel.â It would be rude to not introduce them, he thought, especially since theyâd all be filming the next few scenes together. Joel gives him a glance and turns his attention towards Miah to extend a hand.
âPleasure to meet you, you are Vladimir's friend?â A shiver definitely does not try to make its way down his spine upon hearing his full name, and gods does he hope heâs not blushing again. The handshake, he notes, is much slower and longer than the one he had receivedâŠhe tries not to read into that. He looks up at the woman beside them as their hands part, she clasps hers together in front of herself and gives a polite nod.
âThe pleasureâs all mine! I was very excited to hear Iâd finally be getting a chance to work with you! And to work with Vlad again too, on the same project no less. Weâve been friends since filming that weird pumpkin themed horror movie a few years back. Have you two worked together before? Vlad didnât mention it when we went over the cast list together.â She raised her eyebrow as she spoke, her eyes pointedly moving between the two of them, as if trying to hint at something almost. It was at that moment he realized Joel had stopped nearly directly behind him, just barely off to the side enough for them to see each other's faces actually. The cough that escapes him is definitely not nervous, just a tickle is what he tells himself as he brings his hand back down to readjust his cane. He reminds himself to ask Skyler where sheâd had them put his chair.
âWe havenât. I met him filming a scene earlier in the week,â the taller manâs eyes move to Vlad again, âIâd like to have a word before weâre called to places. Iâll be in my chair.â He started to turn to leave, eyes moving back to Miah, âI look forward to working with you.â And with that he was walking away. He really didnât like letting people respond did he? Two of their interactions now heâd ended by just walking away. With a small shake of the head he turns back to his friend, who is now trying to hide some very obvious amusement. She says her next words in a hushed tone, her wrist partially covering her mouth.
âOh my god heâs so into you.âÂ
âHeâs what now?â
Vladâs jaw drops open and he gives the most incredulous look at the woman across from him. He turns away from her, only to look back at her completely aghast, âHe barely looked at me when he was actively speaking to me just now. What about that indicates heâs into me? If anything Iâd say he was checking you out!â He emphasizes his words with a flick of the wrist in her direction and tries to keep his voice hushed so nobody overhears their conversation. It is quite embarrassing to be having this conversation while at work actually, something heâd rather keep private.
âAre you kidding me? First of all,â she raises a finger up beside her head. Oh great, sheâs making a list, âyou didnât see what his eyes were doing when your back was turned. Second,â another finger and a pointed tilt of the head, âhe was staring me down. NOT the same as checking me out. Third,â hopefully the final finger in this conversation raises, âeven if he had been we both know heâs nowhere near my type in men. Much tooâŠstoic.â She finishes with a slight downward curl on her lips and a shake of the head before finally putting her hand down to cross her arms over each other. She glanced over his shoulder once more and her eyes just barely widened before she smirks, letting her eyes fall back to his once more. âYou better get a move on with your conversation, your man keeps looking at us.â As she looks back again her eyes shift to a new area behind him and stop, her mouth forms a soft âoâ and a new look overtakes her and she seems to spot something else, something not Joel he decides. A hand is placed on his shoulder as she very quickly steps around him. Her next words come out quiet as he walks away. âSpeaking of my typeâŠIâll see you on set.â He turns to watch her go with a mild curiosity, eyes following her direction of travel to the prosthetics tent where he could see a very muscular woman with a short ponytail getting pieces attached to her already augmented arm. He gives an impressed hum to himself and nods, heâd definitely have to invite them all out for drinks if for no other reason than to hear about how that develops.
He turns a bit more to face Joelâs direction and notices the other manâs eyes just barely darting down to the script he held in his hand. Vlad begins to make his way over when a very very small chuckle breaks through his lips, any previous tension about how the other perceived him already forgotten. Either he was trying to look nonchalant and failing miserably, or he could read upside down, seeing as thatâs the way the script was being held. With a final few steps theyâre next to each other and Vlad decides at the last minute he wonât mention the little continuity error in the other's facade.
âEager to steal my attention eh? I already agreed to have lunch with you.â Thereâs a chuckle in the way he says it, something light. Joel lifts his eyes from the pages heâd definitely been pretending to read and gives a small hum. His unoccupied hand came up to smooth over his jaw and chin before he spoke, turning his head in his direction but still not fully looking at the man heâs addressing.
âWe have a lot of scenes together. It seems our characters becomeâŠvery good friends, by the end of the season. Over half of the dialogue Iâve read so far is either directed at or talking about your character in some way. We should discuss their dynamic.â With that he turns his head to rest it on his hand, and finally makes eye contact with the other. Thereâs no real identifiable emotion on his face aside from what seems to be sheer boredom. âI was told by my manager the production team wants them,â he raises his head to make air quotes with the hand he had been leaning on as he continues,ââstrictly platonic with no room for romantic interpretation,â I assume you were told the same?â Vlad closes his eyes and he lets a little giggle slip at that, bringing the back of his hand up to cover it. He misses the way the otherâs light up just a bit more at it.
âI was, yes, I assume you think we should take more creative liberties with it? You wouldnât be talking to me about it otherwise, correct?â His hand comes back down to rest in his pocket, his posture relaxed, and he gives an inquisitive look. He really hopes heâs about to suggest what he thinks he is.
âYes. Whether my character knows it or not, he will be in love with yours by the end of the season, and whether yours reciprocates or not is up to you.â He speaks with an air of certainty that leaves no room for discussion, luckily Vlad is already in agreement with him.
âHe will. Iâm very glad we had this chat actually, I had been planning on adding a level ofâŠlonging? Iâm aware your character is romantically involved with Miahâs by the second half of the season, however I do love some good old fashioned, one sided, seemingly unrequited tension.â He lets his lip curl up into a mischievous grin as he looks down at the other. âIt wonât be too obvious of course, just an underlying something or other to give a bit more depth to their relationshipâŠthough it does seem quite deep even without it. They become quite close, no? We should find some time outside of filming to talk, get into character a little as they say.â Heâd already said he wanted to find ways to get to know him more, and he fully meant that shit. Whether the reasoning he was giving was the only reason was not important. Joel gives a hum of agreement and looks back down at his script, heâs silent for a second before- oh heâs blushing. He must have finally noticed his script was upside-down.
Credit where itâs due, Joel has a very good poker face aside from the light blush dusted across his cheeks. Vlad keeps his eyes on him as the other clears his throat and closes his script, looking back up as if nothing had even happened. The bell to signal a start rings and places are called, cutting the rest of their conversation short.
âSo far, so good.â He whispers, the glowstick just barely illuminating the lock enough for him to see it. Suddenly a bright light flows over them both, slightly startled he looks directly into it before bringing his hand up to try and deflect some of it. Blinking a few times to correct his eyes he hears a familiar voice in front of him.
âHmm. Willing to risk exile for your endeavour. Thatâs quite the conviction.â Itâs said with a hint of amusement. Theyâd filmed this scene a few times already and he felt his lack of lines right here kept making the whole exchange rather awkward. Time for a new strategy I guess.
âCouncilor!â He hears from behind him. Quirking a brow up he barely listens to the continued flustered rambling, he feigns confusion and turns back to the keys still in the lock by his face.
âWait a minute this isnât my bedroom?â He mutters with mock embarrassment, âHow could I haveâŠâ Their voices overlap for a second before silence engulfs them. He looks back up at the âCouncilorâ and sees her fighting for her damn life to keep in the laugh thatâs threatening to spill out. Sheâs come to expect this of him, he supposes, makes it easier to keep her composure. Joel seems as composed as ever, easily continuing on with his lines and itâs only a little disappointing he didnât laugh. Itâs almost too easy the way the rest of the scene flows from there, almost too easy the way Joel looks at Miah with such curiosity and wonder as she walks away with the security guard. Almost too easy how he doesnât have to fake the way his lips pull up to his nose in distaste, or even the slightly annoyed huff he gives before turning back to the door, bending down to finish unlocking it as the director yells cut. They didnât have to redo the scene again at least.
Authors note: This shit is 3.5k words and I edited without coffee. Thanks for the love so far! Glad to know yall are liking it. I'll definitely be branching out at some point to do more with Caitvi and Melvika. I'm not sorry about it.
Jayce "Why are you petting the other dog?đ„ș" Talis gets a lot more fun when he still hasn't figured out his feelings
Awww, yeah and he starts to just think heâs a needy fuckâconstantly wanting attention. He hasnât figured out that itâs just from this one person. He hasnât figured out that he only feels this way when Viktorâs focus is drawn elsewhere, that he just wants Viktor to himself. And of course he never says anything, because it feels childishâafter all, he pretty much always has Viktor to himself, so these small bouts of jealousy feel ridiculous.
But once theyâre together, once the retrospection starts, Jayce canât help but laugh at himself. Of course he was jealous, of course he wanted Viktor to himself. He wasnât needy for attention from everyone, he just wanted it from Viktor (the one person he spent nearly all his time with, so of course he thought he was being needy). And at some point, he tells Viktor all of thisâthat he used to bite his cheek whenever Viktor was talking to their suppliers, that he once drew blood from biting back the jealousy.
And Viktor just smiles at him ruefully. âI had no idea it was so bad for you⊠but if itâs any consolation, it was equally bad for me. Perhaps Iâm just a better actor.â

Preview- Vladâs driver had dropped them off outside the bar roughly half an hour ago and there was no sign of Joel. He had stressed over his outfit for an hour in total and the one man he was trying to impress wasnât even here. He took another sip of his drink and let his eyes drift around the room for the umpteenth time, fiddling with the end of his came in his free hand. His cropped band shirt came down to his waist, covered by the open button up Viola had insisted on. The choice left a nice section of his stomach uncovered before it was met with his dark green cargo pants, not his first choice but his favorite brace for dancing was more comfortable with the slightly thicker fabric. Even without his ideal pants, he looked good and he knew it. He just wished the object of his affection would show up so he could prove it.
Minor Caitvi and Melvika in this one. They get like a full paragraph though.
Vlad was jealous. It was a plain and simple fact. Why? Joel Torres. His own filming for Arcane was on hold the past few days since they were focussed on other scenes, not a problem, He had plenty of other projects to fill his time with! Unfortunately this did mean he hadnât seen Joel since Monday. It was currently Friday. The absolute horror, am I right? And though that would be changing tonight, having set plans for over a week now, it didnât help the ugly emotion that had been churning in his gut. The media had started a rumor that there was something going on between his costars Miah and Joel, and while he knew it wasnât true, he couldnât help but roll his eyes and huff every time he got a âSorry, Joel and I need to run lines, can we do lunch tomorrow?â or an even worse âim with miah ill see you fridayâ from Joel (and his lack of proper grammar over text), which by the way, ouch? That had been sent on Wednesday and no communication had been had between the two since. Thatâs actually what brings us to the current topic and conversation, the one about him being jealous.
The stars of Arcane were all finally going out for drinks together, as actual friends he might add, and due to the varying degrees of fame amongst them, theyâd booked a VIP room at Violaâs favorite karaoke bar for the night. Viola, Miah, and himself were currently in varying states of the getting ready process in his living room. Miah was sitting on his patterned blue rug in front of the couch with her makeup and a mirror on the coffee table in front of her, she currently wore his bathrobe over her white skirt and cropped pink baby tee to avoid getting makeup on anything. Viola was in his kitchen just ten feet away absolutely decimating his liquor cabinet, and he was sitting behind Miah on his gray velvet couch, using her mirror to fix his hair for the 15th time.
âVlad Iâm telling you to just ask him the fuck out, okay?â Viola popped back up from under the counter and set down three shot glasses, proceeding to pour them some of hisâŠwhen did he buy whiskey? He doesnât drink whiskey. âItâs been WEEKS now of fuck me eyes back and forth around the lot,â She punctuated her words with a dramatic lean to the side and a wave of the hand,â and Iâm out $30 if one of you canât get it together and make a damn move by the end of filming. Do you want me to be out $30?â Their head snapped to look in Vladâs direction, an accusatory finger following. âBecause I thought-â
âYou and Joel will be in the same vicinity tonight, I would not recommend that once we leave.â That earned him a laugh from Miah and a dramatic groan of annoyance from Viola. She picked up their tray of shots and walked around the breakfast bar into the living room. Tonight they were donned in chest tape with an open cropped black jacket over it, a pair of black jeans and studded boots to complete the look. She set the tray down and sat beside him on the couch. He didnât need to look at them to know they were facing him.
âUncalled for, there hasnât been an incident in over a week and you know it. Plus who else is gonna be your wingman? Cat ainât subtle and whenever Miah gets within five feet of him itâs on the cover of Teen magazine.â He cringed a bit at that, it was true after all. It was also the entire reason they were having this conversation at all. Another cover shot of Joal and Miahâs âlunch dateâ as the article had put it.
âIâd hardly call your methods subtle, besides I donât know how many times I have to tell you he isnât interested. He doesnât seem like the type to...what was that saying Miah?â He makes eye contact with her in the mirror, âBeat the bush? It had to do with a bush.â He finally looks over at Viola as she downs her shot.
âBeat around the bush dear. And no, heâs not. Thatâs what weâre trying to tell you.â Miah finally speaks as she blends out her blush. âWeâve already established heâs not interested in me, nor I him. You can even ask him if you really want to know for sure.â She gives him a pointed look and closes her compact with a satisfying click. He breaks their eye contact to reach for his cane. Heâd had enough of this conversation to be frank, and needed to finish getting dressed.Â
âMaybe I will hmm? Who knows what the night will bring, but in the meantime, please do not burn down my apartment while I change.â That was definitely directed at Viola. âIâm moving in a few months and Iâd like my deposit back, thank you.â He turns to go to his bedroom, his exit is punctuated with the soft clicks of his cane, and as Viola watches him go she doesnât know whether she wants to scream or cry at his obliviousness.Â
âHe could tell the moment you set your sights on someone, but has no idea when someone does the same for him?â The question is directed at Miah, who looks to be nearly done with her makeup. A joint sigh escapes them both as they make eye contact. Itâs like a light bulb appears above Violaâs head as a smirk makes its way across her face and Miah knows what sheâs going to say before the words even escape her mouth. âSpeaking ofâŠhowâs that going? Savannah right?â
She can tell Miahâs blushing under her perfectly applied makeup and gives a nudge of encouragement with her foot. The woman bats her foot away and rolls her eyes. âYes Savannah. Weâre only texting right now, nothingâsâŠgoing yet. But I invited her tonight so with a little liquid courage and half an edible I think Iâll work up the nerve to ask her out.â She unclips her shoulder length butterfly locs and gives her head a shake to help fix them before she turns off her mirrorâs light. With a little uncertainty she takes a deep breath and turns to face her friend. âHow did youâŠwhen you asked out CatâŠuhâŠany pointers?â Her head tilts to the side with an awkward smile
Viola barks out a laugh and leans over to hand the other her previously forgotten shot. Miah immediately downs it gratefully and lets out a little chuckle before continuing. âMen are easy for me, y'know? I can flirt with them no problem, go on dates with them, text, but with Savi? Itâs like I canât even get a word outâŠâ She leans herself back against the couch defeated, following the way the fan spins with her eyes. She hears the way Viola sucks her teeth before replying with an almost cautious tone.
âHonestly? No idea. Cathrin asked me out. Walked up to me after an audition I did at Kurtmen Studios and said Iâd âgotten the part of her dateâ for that Saturday." They share another chuckle, âBest I can tell you is to just dive in and hope for the bestâŠsheâs definitely a lesbian though, I looked into it for you.â
â...oh?â
âYep. Half her posts tag that Lesbian bar on the other side of town and the other half are selfies at the gym or hiking.â
âVi that sounds like yo- oh. Yeah I believe you.â
Vladâs driver had dropped them off outside the bar roughly half an hour ago and there was no sign of Joel. He just wished the object of his affection would show up so he could prove it.Â
He was brought out of his thoughts when the stool next to him scraped against the floor and it was pulled out, a set of blue eyes and a blonde beard coming into view as the newcomer ordered. He heard him say a whiskey on the rocks, and being a drink or two in at this point, decided he'd make the most of his night. The bartender set down the drink and out of the corner of his eye he saw Viola go up to sing Wannabe by the Spice Girls again.
âWhiskey eh? Iâm more of a vodka man myself, but maybe their selection here is a bit better than what Iâm used to.â He faced the other as he vocalized his thoughts and realized he recognized him, he had seen him at a queer club Miah had dragged him to last weekend. Heâd definitely been checking Vlad out.Â
âItâs not my usual go to, but Iâm gearing up to buy this guy a drink and needed an extra push. Sitting right next to me actually, you think heâd want one?â The man raised his eyebrow and took a long sip of his drink. Vlad let the side of his mouth curl into a half smile and chuckled.
âI think heâd like a shot of vodka. And a name to go with such a cute face.â His head came to rest on his hand as he spoke, cane now resting against his inner leg The other quickly waved down the bartender and ordered the shot while Vlad finished the remainder of his drink.Â
âIâm Charlie. Yknow when my friend said he was gonna get us into an exclusive bar, I didnât expect to see so many famous faces. Yours included.â The shot was set down and Vlad raised it to his new counterpart before downing it. His eyes stayed on the bar for a moment as he responded.
âOh? So you know me then? And here I thought you just wanted a drink with a handsome stranger?â He was only half teasing. It would have been nice to not be recognized, but with his rising fame it was becoming harder and harder to find possible partners that didnât already know who he was. He asked for another vodka soda.
Charlie made no indication he was bothered by what was just said, even laughing along, but as he made a move to respond he tensed a bit, leaning just a bit farther away and eyes widening in an almost confused way, it would have been comical in any other circumstance. His eyes had focused on something behind Vlad and he himself now felt a presence in the previously empty space behind him. It was familiar, and he scrunched up his face in curiosity before swiveling around just a bit to see who it was.
âYou can go. Sorry to keep you waiting Vladimir, Cat and I got into a bit of an argument before we left.â Joel quickly came into sight and claimed the bar stool on the other side of him, eyes not leaving Charlieâs. Vlad made a noise of confusion and shook his head in a way he really hoped was nonchalant.
âOh uhâŠâ Fuck âYou didnât! Violaâs stage presence has had me captivated until just a minute ago, Charlie and I were just talking.â The man in question looked between the two a few times, trying to gauge the situation. Joel raised a brow at him when Vlad had turned back to the blond, eyes narrowing just a tad.
âI said you can go?â and oh was he gone. Departing with a quick nod of his head and walking quickly in another direction. Vladâs face scrunched up in confusion. He thought they were heading somewhere with their conversation too. With only mild disappointment, he shrugged and turned his attention to Joel, whose eyes had found their way back to Vlad the moment Charlie had hurried off. He had an unreadable look on his face as Vladâs eyes found his and silence overtook them.Â
Joel briefly looked to the bartender to order a glass of tequila when Vladâs drink was brought over and Vlad unwillingly made a mental note to try tequila the next time he went out. Heâd already mixed alcohol enough for one night and he didnât want to be totally incoherent now that the object of his desires had reared his beautiful head. Not a word was spoken as whoever was next went up on stage and Joel took a sip from his first drink of the night. Vlad was the first to break the silence, he usually was he noted.
âYou look good tonight, I donât think Iâve ever seen you out of costume now that I think about it. Greenâs a good color on you.â This was true, heâd only ever seen the other man in their Arcane costumes and the occasional jacket to avoid spilling anything on it. He looked good. He was dressed in a fitted dark green sweater over a dark grey button up shirt, though how anything fit under that sweater with how tight it seemed to be was a mystery. He had on black pleated slacks and dark grey shoes, a bit professional for a bar but who was he to judge. What caught his eye most was the gold chain around his neck, with a beautiful blue rock hanging from it. Heâd seen it before, on a bracelet Joel always wore on set. It must be interchangeable? Or part of a set? Eh who cares, he was two seconds away from drooling- Oh shit his mouth was open. He snapped his jaw shut with a light click and cleared his throat, eyes looking anywhere but the man beside him. Embarrassment heavy on the air around him.
Joel waited a moment before responding, âThanks. I like this sweater. Itâs soft, see?â An arm was held out in front of him and Vlad actually didnât have time to be embarrassed about the way his hand shot out to feel along Joelâs bicep and forearm. It was definitely softâŠand did so very little to hide the absolute unit of an arm underneath it.Â
âI seeâŠvery nice, yes.â He said as he brought his arm back down to his pocket. Joel gave a hum of approval and threw a glance over Vladâs shoulder again before letting his eyes come back to the otherâs.Â
They got into a comfortable conversation from there, Vlad very animatedly talking about this or that, Joel making comments here and there. They both found they had a mutual love of horror films, both loving the Evil Dead franchise and the remake of The Invisible Man. A comment was made that they should make plans to see something together once they had more free time, and Vlad plays off the flush oh his face with being just a bit buzzed.
âSoâs that your type?â Vlad absolutely froze at the words.
âYou mean Charlie?â He asked in an almost perplexed curiosity. Why were they talking about him again, it had been nearly an hour since heâd gone on his way.
âIf that was his name.â He had to find an answer soon with the way Joel was staring at him. The thing was, while yes that was his type, he had his ideal specimen of a man sitting directly next to himâŠwho also coincidentally fit the majority of the criteria he preferred, more so that the blond had in fact. He cleared his throat and let his eyes fall to the floor for a second, drink swirling in his hand while he thought of an answer.
âFor the most part, give or take the ehhâŠfacial hair I suppose?â Was that subtle? Oh gods it definitely wasnât. Where was Viola? She was meant to be a wingman tonight for him. He dared a glance at the other as the words rolled off his tongue, she had said to be more forward anyways.
âHm. Definitely not my type but we all have our preferences.â Joel shrugged as he answered. He felt himself deflate just the smallest bit as he decided to ask a bold and very clarifying question.Â
âOh? Like men in general?â Fuck fuck fuck abort abort abort-
âNo. Men are fine, heâs just not my type.â Vladimirâs head had never in his life whipped up so fast, and he had never been so embarrassed about a reaction as when his gaze locked onto a pair of beautiful golden eyes, staring right into his soul.
âAh. I see.â He responded slowly.
âI just prefer a smaller partner. Eye color is all wrong too.â Joel broke their eye contact for the first time as he glanced at a loud crash across the room. Vlad couldnât bear to look away from his face at that moment.
Was he flirting? Was it just one too many drinks and an active imagination? He didnât think heâd had enough to make himself lose his perception of those around him, but maybe it was time to call it quits for the night. His mouth suddenly felt very dry as he watched Joelâs eyes drift back to his own.
âIâll be back. Iâd like to talk more.â Joel downed the remainder of his drink and stood up, âI like talking to youâŠVlad. Apologies for not being able to see you much this last week.â Heat crept up his neck as we watched the taller man walk away towards the commotion. He could now clearly see Piper, another castmate of theirs, had been the cause. He couldnât be bothered to figure out what was happening though, too lost in thought about the conversation heâd just had.

I feel like Jayce is a jealous partner, but not in a "oh you are mine đ" way, more like a "oh why not me?đ„ș please I want it to be me sooo bad please please please đ„șđ„șđ„ș" way
Yessss, I feel like the reason most of us (me at least) get the ick with jealousy tropes is cuz so often it borders on possessive or downright controlling/manipulative. But then thereâs that harmless kind of jealousy. The kind thatâs like⊠sad puppy crying because youâre petting another dog.
Jayce doesnât voice any of it, doesnât act on it. But he canât help that pang in his heart, the flinch when itâs not him being lavished in attention. And it makes him so easy to teaseâall Viktor has to do is get a little too chatty, a little too handsy with some nameless supplier, and then watch with no small amount of satisfaction as Jayce grows more and more jittery. I want that to be me so badly, his body language so clearly says. And depending on what kind of evening Viktor is prepared to have (i.e. how much sleep heâs prepared to lose đ), then he can continue this all day long, letting Jayce stew in his need until it reaches a boiling point.
And just when it does, when the day is over and theyâre finally alone, Viktor gives all that attention backâall that fuss over a little harmless conversation? Really, now. Canât even stand to be apart from me for a single day, can you? Come here you needy thing.
