How I Love
Searching for a beloved unseen brings my eyes tears The winds that reach them make them feel naked in these years Each personality is connected to my heartstrings and they each play a different tune My heart is harboring and protecting fourteen different ways of love and I won’t let it stop
Muhammad lets this heart settle in oceans he brings He soothes its questions with no repercussions He lets this heart speak always even if this heart is not always there He is Muhammad and he owns this heart and for this I am happy
Fatima shares this hearts’ sadness and burdens She does not let it stay stuck under its fetters She stands inside it with the doors closed asking for this heart’s forgiveness She spends her time ensuring that I’ll be with her in the next lifetime
Ali leaves this heart dazed and always craving for more If he gives this heart one, this heart will ask for two more Ali gives anyways, but this heart promises that it’s only selfish with him He can’t be, yet he is and so this heart is in constant realizations
This heart feels the beat Hassan plays and is comfortable As strong as this heart is, Hassan keeps it afloat in its weakness This heart doesn’t doubt him, Hassan is what keeps this heart patient And all knowledge of politics is derived from his meticulous actions
This heart hurts at the mention of Hussain but is still uplifted His love doesn’t die, so Hussain didn’t, he lives I can show you, just give my heart time to show you his connections This heart does not give up on him, he is Islam’s message
And Ali Sajjad, my heart needs you more than speech to know or blood to pump If it weren’t for you, this heart would’ve remained hallow You brought a love here that is new and that only renews It gifts me with love for My Lord, because your love came with words poured
This heart calls to al-Baqir for any semblance of reasoning O’ Baqir any knowledge my heart is immersed in is because of you Your love for knowledge is my love for you, please accept it If this heart is wrong, fix it and it’ll be on its way
Sadiq, your sciences cannot overburden this heart, keep teaching me This heart only likes solitude so it can absorb your discoveries Keep this heart as your beloved student though it is much too slow Because Sadiq, if you don’t teach me, I don’t know who will tomorrow
This heart keeps Musa away from the world’s gaze to keep him close It loves and cares for him too much, it won’t let him go When it tries to calm its palpitations in his mention, it doesn’t work For Musa is held far too dearly for any interceptions between us
Ridha shows this heart its direction even when it thinks he’s lost too For this stranger, nothing can be too strange so he accepts this heart’s love-Knowing it is full of flaws in past and to come, he does not leave me He is here for me just as I try to be for him with love in my hands centuries later
Jawad, you’ve taught this heart how to stay obedient while lonely So how can this heart try now to make you at ease and happy? You’ve shown me a way to be and this heart softens Because even as an orphan, you are a father to every heart you caress
It is Hadi who guides me in moments of harm and duress But this heart does not worry, it knows that he knows best This heart would love him even if he were not to know, regardless Hadi plays a beat in this heart that keeps it finely tuned to the love of this family
This heart loves another Hassan but different than before For this heart learns how to stay patient even when rights are violated Same name as al-Mujtaba and similar story but this love is distinct and different This heart knows of no other way to behave other than to just love him
And in love there is a beloved but this one I cannot see Mahdi is the love my heart anticipates daily I love him through love of the thirteen before him And I caress and learn from him as I do from those before him
This is how I love, for my heart cant explain it better Maybe with some Divine Inspiration later, it might be heavier But for now I love them with what I know and how I know And may they accept the ounces that toward them flow

Resilience
I’ve seen the elements of salvation/ They all consisted of Jawad’s dedication/
***
Our life today is simple because of his work yesterday that readied us/ Jawad, you pacified and prepared the people who were already anxious/ Knowing you’d be the Imam at nine and abandoned by al-Ridha at five/ You still steered the worlds and in the ways of God you taught them to strive/
Ya Bab al-Murad! all afflictions and pains melt in your grip/ O’ Gate of Desires and Hopes! all we need to do is bring to you our hardship/ Nothing is too difficult for the Imam who taught himself and led at nine/ Darkness tries and light tries but is there even a part of him that refuses to shine/
Nothing in him will harm or disappoint your spirits/ Anything that tried to slow him down, then and now, just plummets/ O’ Gate to Divine Mercy, you do not go unnoticed even if we are content/ Because even if we are suffering or at ease, from you we learned of ascent/
You trained an army of leaders that will soon impart everything you’ve taught/ The leadership we have straightening this path is what you have brought/ Don’t be shy in our recognition of your resilience through loneliness/ Your oppressors thought they could control a nine year old, forgetful of your genius/
Savvy and wise, Jawad, you’re an avid teacher no one could tame/ Even with your demise, you trained your son Hadi at five to reclaim/ The tree of imamate is limited but your roots of affection and leadership, unlimited/ By the strength and force of its growth beneath us, some are blasted/
Your liveliness intimidates each person who walks harshly upon the earth/ Their hearts hurt and minds boggle the moment they question your worth/ Because who else could lead a people to become leaders at such a tender age/ O’ Taqi, your age, your loneliness, your oppression, nothing kept you caged/
Once we do what needs to be done, there will be no you and us, we will be one/ The path to God should be straight but it seems to bend in darkness, come be our beacon/ The strength of leadership we have today is due to your implementations/ And if it wasn’t for your generosity in time and spirit, we’d be mindless creations/
We are following the straightest path we can find, always/ But without you here, we may slip, so O’ Jawad set alight these alleyways/ Show us the clearest path (sirat), clear the air of mist and fog that may lay here/ We didn’t forget you, we’ll love and remember you to make the path of al-Mahdi clear/
You’ve done it before, it is why we are still here so please don’t ignore our admiration/ Ya Mukhtar, it is you we need in helping to serve today’s Imam, we are certain/ It is you we need to bring light to the straightest path available in this time/ It is you we need when the mountain of today’s forces is shoved before us to climb/
Who in our pains reminds us that this is all transient and we will get through/ Who in our loneliness befriends us because he has felt it too/ Jawad, you’re a kingdom that supports our broken pieces easily/ Please, I pray to God that you never lose sight of us-be our army/
You are a pleasantry and we won’t ever keep you hidden/ Sure, jewels might require such care, but you’re too rare to not broaden/ Besides, these jewels we have are limited in number, but Jawad you can care for us all/ All that we must do in return is heed God and Muhammad’s call/
Muhammad al-Jawad, how perfect a name as the third Muhammad in this family/ Each Muhammad brought up and raised a community from their knees/ And don’t forget his generosity spoke before he ever did so al-Jawad, a suited nickname/ Learning from his forefathers, just wait to see Muhammad al-Mahdi do the same/
When we take a look at your strength and tenderness that somehow coexisted/ We cry at how resilient you were forced to be with every hardship you were greeted/ Nothing could bring our hearts joy upon lamenting your loneliness/ But Jawad, you’re irrepressible so we take pride in you and it is endless/
Ya Bab al-Murad! all afflictions and pains melt in your grip/ O’ Gate of Desires and Hopes! all we need to do is bring to you our hardship/
