Emily Prentiss is a Human.
Is it just me that sometimes forgets that some parts of the bau's lives are just the same as ours? The same that every single person experiences? Has things they regret that has nothing to do with their job? For example s4 e17; Demonology. That always affects me differently to other cm episodes. Seeing Emily upset over the death of a friend, trying to deal with things that are completely out of her control and has no relation to her other than her friend died and she is shocked and confused and initially not many people believed her when she said it was murder and she could not make them believe it. Her vulnerability in the episode also caught me off guard, especially when she was soaking wet from the rain and nothing but herself in front of Hotch. She was just a simple human, hurting. We see her confident, catching unsubs and enjoying spending time with the team, but up until this episode, we see almost nothing of her raw, painful emotions that she can't control and didn't see comimg, doesn't have anyone to blame and wants answers to end her confusion. There is not much comfort to be offered, the team don't know the full story and no one could possibly understand her pain because it is unique to theirs and would always be, even if they were put in the exact same situation. This man more or less saved Emily's life even if it wasn't in the way that most imagine. To him she is Emily. She was his vulnerable but fierce and fiery and brave best friend and they could rely on each other. Even when things were desperately complicated they were simple, all they needed was each other. To him she wasn't the ambassador's daughter, or an FBI agent. Not his colleague and not his girlfriend, not "Prentiss".. Just plain Emily, who needed him as much as he needed her, she was simply his friend. And he died. He died and she couldn't even say goodbye she never even saw him. She saved her other friend but couldn't save him too. He died and his parents covered it up. She wasn't there. She lost a friend and that's as human as it gets. She's a human and I forget that sometimes.
