🙌🏻Happy Sunday Friends 🙌🏻 When I was in Uganda several years ago on a mission trip, everyone we met would say this as their greeting to you. They’d say: God is good! You would reply: All the time! They you’d both say together: God is good all the time because that is His nature. 💕💕 I absolute loved it because everyone we were interacting with there did this. Here in the USA, when you greet your friends, even at church, everyone just says “Hey, how are you?” The focus is on us. But in Uganda it’s clear that the focus of their initial greeting for each other is on God. Currently reading AW Tozer’s “The Pursuit of God”. He wrote about ideas being brain deep but maybe not life deep. It got me thinking about faith. Is my faith more brain deep (heady knowledge) than life deep (am I applying principles of my faith in my everyday interactions - with patience, grace etc)? So it’s playoff season for football which means some of us will be sad as teams are eliminated. Me! But it also leads up to the great tradition of Superbowl Sunday commercials. When I was a kid, nothing was revealed by companies until that day. Times have changed and now there are some great commercials out there ahead of the great or bad commercials reveal of the Superbowl Sunday. @chevrolet has a commercial running, they showed the whole commercial during the RamvsCowboys game. At the first, second, third viewing, I was so mesmerized by the beautiful image of aged Indigenous man declaring his love of the USA. My critical eye was turned off for a moment. It is a lush commercial paying homage to the working and middle class of the USA. The blue collar worker. In addition, you are lulled in by format in which the commercial is shot. It really is a beautiful commercial. They show men of all shades and one woman, who of course is white. I tried to be logical and not be in a place of offense. The goal of advertising is convince a person to buy a product. They were selling trucks. Maybe research shows women of color don’t buy trucks. Another goal of companies is to also appeal to other people groups who are not their typical customer. To make me, a die hard New Yorker, want to purchase that truck. Women of color represent strong purchasing power especially black women. In this commercial showcasing the beauty of USA and her amazing mosaic of people. I wish @chevrolet did not leave us, women of color out of the story and the mosaic. The commercial makes me want to move to the west, buy a ranch, get my driver’s license so I could drive a truck. Imagine if women of color were included in the conversation how more stuff we would buy.
