“Are you sure we can leave him here, Gabi?” Falco asked Gabi before they left Levi’s sight.

“I guess so, he looks like he wants to be alone. Besides, I'm hungry. We'll just have a quick run by the stalls. Get food and go back.” she replies as she pulls Falco towards the stalls.

Levi slowly raises his head as he hears the two walk away. He remembers the first time he went on this same cliff, maybe a year or so after they reclaimed Wall Maria, after losing him. He remembers how the hue of the ocean reminded him of his, how it was deep and full of mysteries that only he was able to see. The beauty within the mysteries that only he was able to see.

“You guys… I miss everyone… I really do… so much,” he whispers weakly

Until today, the ocean still reminds him of the same ocean inside those pairs of eyes. He remembers how he fulfilled his promise after a long time of waiting. He remembers everything as clear as day.

“I wish to see everyone soon… I want to see everyone...” he murmurs as he lifts his vision towards the sky where the sun was shining brightly at him. 

“I hate how everything reminds me of you, bastard… It makes me miss you a ton.” he says as he leans his head back on his wheelchair.

It was when the sun shined even brighter that he had to close his eyes, before blinking rapidly to adjust his fairly clearing vision. He hears someone clearing their throat beside him, 

‘ah, maybe not yet my time to go,’ he thinks before looking by his side.

He wasn’t surprised to see Hange smiling at him in a teasing manner, he notices that their eyes are back, no eyepatch covering their missing eye. He has been seeing them as hallucinations for the past weeks, he chose to keep silent about them to not further bother the kids and onyankopon. It has been a week since he was drinking his new tea he formulated and the hallucinations became stronger to the point where he cannot separate them from reality, but he still kept silent about them.

“Can we speed this up a bit, Levi? We have been waiting for like… I don't know??? Years maybe!” They exclaimed, shaking Levi to wake him up from his trance.

“God, you’re so loud shitty eyes. Let me have my peace.” he says as he dusts off his clothes before standing up.

“Again, WE have been waiting. We missed you and don’t even deny, we heard you saying you miss us too. Especially him, huh. You’re still whipped for that blonde.” They laugh as they walk beside Levi towards the end of the cliff.

“Why are you even here?” he asks, feigning annoyance.

“I’m here to guide you to pass the test.” They distract Levi by holding his wrist and guiding him towards the ocean, off of the cliff.

“Test? What test?” Levi only realizes that they were floating above the rocky formation off of the cliff.

“Trust fall, just trust us. We’ll catch you. Breathe in 2 counts and Let go for 3.” They add, smiling reassuringly to ease Levi.

Fall

He feels himself falling, the winds rushing past him, but he doesn’t open his eyes to confirm that he’s falling. He suddenly feels a pair of arms wrapping around him from under. As Levi senses that he was no longer falling, he opens his eyes and is welcomed by a pair of ocean hued one. The pair he loved to stare at, the pair he watched turn cold, the pair he missed dearly, the pair he used to know. 

“You passed the test, Captain.” the blonde lets him down from his arms, letting him stand on his own.

“Erwin.”

“We missed you too, Levi.”

“Did you..?”

“I did very much...” Erwin smiled softly, the smile he saw last when he asked him to charge into his death.

“Can I go stay with you now?” Levi asks, almost pleading.

“Yes, of course Levi. you can stay with me now.” Erwin smiles endearingly as he guides Levi to walk towards the ocean.

“Where to, Commander?” Levi finally smiles as he holds onto the other’s hand.

“To Paradise we go, Captain. So you can finally rest.” Erwin squeezes his hand to ease his remaining worry.

That day, Falco and Gabi went home with a sleeping Levi, unknowing of the fact that he would be sleeping from then on. They grew suspicious and called the doctor as Levi didn't wake up despite being shaken by Gabi for dinner. 

Poison. Levi has been drinking his tea glazed with poison, for he is crumbling deep inside and he cannot hold on anymore. He finally let go of his last straw.

That night, Levi was seated between Hange and Erwin. Keeping themselves warm by staying around the bonfire, sipping tea, and reminiscing about what they have been through for the sake of humanity’s freedom.

“I’m home.” he says as he leans in on Erwin’s shoulder to relax.

Just them, around the bonfire, under the stars, with stories filling in the silence.

He’s finally home.
