Okay, friend. I'm BACK with a new delusion! 😂 To celebrate the almost 400 kudos and the +10k hits on Song of Stone, my first AO3 fic and my first #Gigolas and #Bagginshield story, I have just posted the first chapter of my new FF, No Shadow Dark Enough! It is completed and will be updated weekly.

But what is it about, you might ask?

This story is about telling the truth and never being ashamed about who we love.

If you are looking for an entire retelling of The Lord of The Rings with the premise of Gimli and Legolas being secretly married for years, then 'No Shadow Dark Enough' is the story for you.

Because hear me out, friends! I get the whole centuries-long distrust between Dwarves and Elves, okay? Truly, it makes sense they would distrust each other with the fate of the One Ring. But Gimli and Legolas in the movies were having a MARITAL SPAT at the Council of Elrond, and I will DIE on that hill.

So after the 1000th rewatch, I told myself: you know what? This extraordinary work of fiction needs a queer(er) retelling.

As much as I love Bilbo eventually ending up as “Uncle Bilbo” to Fili and Kili, I equally think he’d be completely out of his depth at first. Yes, he becomes Frodo’s uncle down the line, but 1) that’s a good while later and 2) he’s still very much the “weird uncle” in that situation, too.

So yes, absolutely give me Uncle Bilbo! But also Bilbo being uncomfortable at first with the idea of having close family once again. Bilbo resisting the urge to push the others away under the Shire mask of politeness and to genuinely let them become close to him. (Really, the whole idea of letting people in despite of — or because —they’re worth caring for no matter the chance of loss during the quest.) Bilbo really not wanting to screw things up, and Thorin reassuring him that no one really knows what they’re doing at first, but the fact that he cares is enough.

At the end of it, though, Bilbo would be a good uncle and would 100% lean into the “weird uncle” title LOL.
