Though this is a fix-it fic, it’s really more a collection of all the human emotion that was wiped from that 'What If...?" episode. Bucky lives. Steve lives. Okoye lives. Everything else is the same except the hurt actually hurts and that novel idea of comfort exists. I also like to think that, as a zombie, Steve was just constantly following Bucky around.

I was left really disquieted by the episode and wanted to give all the characters a chance to actually reckon with what was done to them. Also. Cuddles.

Ruby: What’s wrong, Yang?

Yang: Feeling Gay. Don’t know how to know if the person I like, likes me back. The usual.

Ruby: Oh! That’s easy to fix!

Yang: Huh?

Ruby: We’re up for a wardrobe change so, right? What with the new season and all-

The next day...

Yang: You know Rubes, I’ve really been into short hair recently.

Ruby: Really?

Yang: Yeah, short hair is hot!

The next day

Yang: I dunno Rubes, I’m really not sure about this.
