for one thing, we know he got bullied at his old school, for sure after his curse manifested but also probably before. he’s shown to get angry and defensive at any sort of conflict and likely would have been seen as quick tempered and disruptive by other students and staff at his old school. this would make him easy pickings because nobody wants to be friends with the kid with anger issues and he’s got a stupid haircut, red hair, freckles, and hes skinny

thats not to say there wasn’t something to like at school. because i imagine the music teacher saw his curiousity and how well he could focus when it came to music and gave him a chance. they believed in him, let him sit in the music room when his parents forgot to pick him up from school, vouched for him if other students told teachers he’d started fights. in turn, kevin was quiet and focused except to tell other kids to shut up and listen during the music lessons.

and i do think kevin likes learning. he probably liked whatever language class he took because he was the first to guess what maledictium mutanti and maledicto spiritus meant and him and edgar were the only ones taking notes when the geography teacher was talking. it was probably difficult to learn when he was being picked on by other kids all the time tho
