A Thousand and One Nights is genuinely one of the best love songs I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. The instrumental is brilliant, as is the truth for all of Starkid's instrumentals- I can't even find the right words to describe it. There's no word great enough to explain how I feel about it.
Don't get me started on the vocals. Meredith Stepien and Dylan Saunders doing a duet is one of the greatest events to ever happen in history. Their voices sound amazing alone but when you combine them, it's like hearing angels sing.
THE LYRICS. The lyrics are just...
"I want to know your story, I want to know your past- I want to know each twist and turn
Tell me all I've missed, I've so much to learn
For when it comes to stories, I thought I knew them all, but now I'm face to face with one I can't seem to recall.."
"I want to know your story, I want to know your past- I want to know your future too"
"I never cared for stories, until you entered mine
And now my only wish is that our plots may intertwine"
The way they describe each other, "He is at once familiar and unknowable" "She is at once a comfort and a mystery".
Especially how they describe them meeting each other. Sherrezade describes it as "-to the frightened girl he meets along the way", knowing it was only the beginning of his story. In comparison to how Ja'far describes it, "-to the callow man she meets that fateful day", he wasn't one for believing in fate except for when it came to her. You can tell he thought about that day, and her, a lot.
I'm not very good with words, but I can say this: I fucking love A Thousand and One Nights.
lazy, non-committal Firebringer theory
Chorn is evil.
Evidence:
1. The Great Debate --- I guess all-powerful beings can be childish, but this is amazing. But it doesn't make sense because Chorn is revealed to be super intelligent and can say words other than "Chorn". See: after Zazzalil takes Chorn's fire away, it says "Chorn, Chorn, you fucking asshole!" ???
2. Firebringer --- Chorn indirectly causes climate change. Is that Chorn's fault? Yes. It should know that humans are dumb as shit and will become addicted to shiny. I will not bring up Chorn giving the tribe the knowledge to the universe because it will weaken my argument.
I can't describe how much I love twisted from twisted. The instrumental, the vocals, the wordplay from Ursula's part, the way Gaston speaks so poetically, and the change in instrumental during the the parts where they switch between Ja'far to Ursula to scar to Gaston. GASTONS INSTRUMENTAL.The ending and the emotions I feel are just too much. Sometimes during class, I'll just repeatedly listen to the karaoke version of it. It's such a beautiful song and I just... love it.
So beautiful it is.
y'all, the black and white is in the lamp from twisted.

my dumbass could probably find a way to sneak a starkid or tin can bros reference into any conversation and I have. I was talking to my mom earlier and she laughed and I asked her if she *was referencing tto*. Someone could cough and I'd ask if they were referencing solve it squad.
so recently, I've been trying to actually figure out what that "blue shit" from TGWDLM actually was and it finally dawned on me.
Beware: science ahead..
I've gotten too into the science angle of this (i also need to watch invasion of the body snatchers to confirm a different theory)
(hemoglobin bit from mayoclinic.org , autopsy report from here)
TLDR: a man had been treated for septic shock with methylene blue, which turned his organs a weird turquoise color. MB makes it so your blood doesn't carry oxygen, preventing the blood from turning red. the rest is just scientific explanations for those who'd like to read it.
So their blood doesn't carry oxygen, but why? why are these singing zombies suffering from methemoglobinemia?
that's where the meteor comes in. we don't know what exactly the meteor is made out of but we do know that it has spores coming off of it.
Hidgens says during Let It Out "It's your proximity to the meteor, Paul. The air in here is thick with it's spores. Feel your apotheosis begin as they take route in your mind. Did you really think think we'd let you kill us? You'll be one of them before you can pull that pin!"
So we are explicitly told just.. that. Thing about spores is that they only grow off of fungus to protect it. so the spores are like bodyguards. makes you wonder what was goin' on with that "rock".
(here)
so whatever the meteor is made out of has eukaryotic cells (the type of cell that makes up candida albicans) on it that are producing spores containing methylene blue. these spores also attack any living organism (except peanuts because she deserves the world and is God). But if we seriously take Peanuts into account, that means either the spores were specifically going after humans or rodents have some weird genetic difference from humans (former is more likely though).
i tried to connect the dancing plague of 1518 to this but really they were just hysteric. i could connect that to HBS (Hot Blood Syndrome) but i think the victims of the dancing plague were just affected by hysteria. Unless in TGWDLM, they have a combination of methemoglobinemia and hysteria..
reading this back... i realize just how crazy i sound.
newaze, I'm not saying that it's super possible that TGWDLM has a scientific explanation, though i do wonder how they came up with the spores thing.. and why specifically "blue shit"? why not orange or any other color?
don't you hate it when you're a prince and a princess sics her tiger on you but since it ate your ass, everyone thinks you fucked a tiger?
the weird thing is that its happened more than once..
