2019 IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair - Opening Night Reception
Jacob Javits Convention Center
Manhattan NYC
October 23, 2019
It is a testament either to the quality of the art on display or a lack of interest in actual landscapes that the scores of attendees at the exclusive preview of this year's International Fine Art Print Fair were ignoring the spectacular Hudson views from the Javits Center's top floor I.M. Pei-designed River Pavilion. And the quality was high, featuring works by such luminaries of the art world as Picasso, Rembrandt, Durer, Donald Judd, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Louise Nevelson, Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Degas, and David Hockney.
A gorgeous Special Project by Swoon greeted art stans as they entered the Pavilion, flanked by two prosecco and wine bars. Servers passed delectable hors d’oeuvres, which included unusual offerings such as pickle-wrapped watermelon, various meat and seafood bites and mini vegetable samosas.
The IFPDA fair is the largest and most celebrated art fair dedicated to fine prints. Now in its 28th year, the fair boasts 70 galleries and publishers from ten countries. The fair is well-known among museum curators and collectors for presenting rare and exceptional prints, projects, and new editions. A curated collection of hour-long conversations and events take place each day in the Program Space.
The International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) represents more than 160 vetted international art galleries and publishers who champion the work of artists in printmaking from old master to contemporary. Proceeds from the IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair benefit the IFPDA Foundation, which awards curatorial, exhibition and artists grants in the field of printmaking and scholarship.
