I Don’t Want To Be The Chosen One: Concept Art- Serpent Creature

I made another creature design. I designed it using several characteristics from animals such as snakes, warthogs, snails as well as mushrooms to keep within my theme of animal/plant hybrids.

Chosen One: Forest Predator

Here’s a monster design I made for a forest creature for my Chosen One Comic, I’m planning. It’s a creature that hunts in forests that can camouflage in foliage to ambush its prey. The stuff growing on its body are leaves, not features allowing it to roll up into itself and hide in plain sight despite its size. The creatures mainly live in the entrances of caves and are completely blind, however, their antlers act as antennae that detect sound and vibrations, allowing them to navigate terrain seamlessly.

The Creature’s young tend to hide within its leaves, clutching onto its back and are dependent on their parent for 2 years before they split off into isolation when they reach adulthood. Young of the species have white leaves that slowly become pink or purple as they mature and finally turn orange and brown as they grow old.

I was never fully satisfied with Kyle's character design and so I sketched a new look for him. I like this design more as his outfit is more telling of his personality and the colours stand out more with his hair having more shape to it.

I'll be doing a neater final design with full turn around soon.

Ok guys, I think I am almost ready to actually start making this thing. I’ve been too caught up in pre-production and I think what I need to do is just try and pump this out as fast as I can. This is my first comic and I need to treat it as much and not be afraid of making mistakes. 

This is only a collection of sketchy panels. When I’m done planning out the chapter, I’ll return to do the final cleaned up illustrations. However any feedback you guys have will be greatly appreciated.

Meet The Family

I made a couple of a character sketches for Kyle’s families. These may change depending on how the story turns out but I thought I’d share anyway.

The Myers Family

Katherine Myers- The self-appointed Matriarch of the family. She runs the family restaurant and works everyone to the bone to ensure it runs like clockwork. She is very erratic and comes up with wild themes and schemes to make the business more profitable, often redecorating the entire restaurant over night much to the dismay of her family and customers.

Bryan Myers- Bryan and his wife began their restaurant as a partnership where they both worked hard to keep things running. Over the years however, Katherine innovated the restaurant with all the latest equipment to make things more efficient and less time consuming. However Bryan has no clue how to operate any of it and over the years he has found himself becoming less and less involved in the restaurant. Now to make himself feel more useful he wonders around the tables aimlessly, making awkward conversation and checking if the chairs the customers are sitting on are sturdy (which they always are because he checked them a minute ago). He is refereed to by patrons as the Myers Family Ghost, forced to wonder the tables aimlessly forever…

Karin Myers- The Eldest of the Myers, she is generally considered the most rude of the family and willing to start a fight with anyone over anything. She is overly protective of her kids and her siblings to a suffocating degree and believes she  always knows what’s best. This extended to her pregnancy where she refuses to take advice from her doctor and believes she can predict to the second when she will give birth, leaving to numerous false labour incidents where she has threatens to give birth in the restaurant because she is insistent she is giving birth “RIGHT NOW!” Her husband is always on stand by. For some unknown reason she despises Adam, she doesn’t know either. She just knows she’s right.

Kevin Myers- Twin brother to his sister Katelyn, Kevin is the beloved friendly giant of the family. He is a big lovable tank who is always friendly and warm with a passion for cooking and getting to know people but becomes a demonic beast on the rugby pitch that can not be stopped nor reasoned with. Traumatising other players by ploughing right through them like a wrecking ball, crippling all in his path without mercy, then baking them brownies as an apology. He is oblivious to his own strength and loves his little brothers Kyle and Kameron more than anything and loves pulling them into bone breaking bear hugs. He adores small cute things and nobody dares make fun of him for it in hear he will kill them or something.

Katelyn Myers- Considered the troublemaker of the family, always finding new ways to get out of working for at the restaurant and dumping her work load on Kyle so she can hang out with her friends instead. She often ends up in arguments with her twin where she bombards him with insults while he responds with compliments (Because he knows it pisses her off).
