you always want to feel bad for the most vulnerable- the women and the people raised up in it. but it comes to a point where michelle and the adult duggar kids are just as complicit. part of me still wants to feel bad for even joseph because this relates to his abuse most likely and i think empathy is important. but their victims are even more vulnerable than them. this isn't explaining to you im sure you already get this but im just letting you know you arent alone in your knee jerk reactions
Oh yea you said it perfectly, I mean I can even feel bad for Jim Bob if I think about it hard enough lol but like you said, at a certain point, their actions against kids have to outweigh our empathy because they are dangerous people. And unfortunately because of her actions, Michelle is a very dangerous person, she's someone that has routinely enabled abusers and predators of children and has almost certainly abused them herself.
It is just a tough area of cults/religion to navigate, because there are SO many external factors working on these women especially, at all times, but there just has to be a line. It kind of reminds me of loving someone who's an addict, you can make excuses that the drugs are responsible for their bad choices for only so long before you have to accept that they are responsible to and hold them accountable for hurting those around them.
