I have a “Wellness” culture in where I work. Counting steps, checking how many points they have to cash out. There’s a fair where groups from the “Wellness” community come and speak on healthy habits, weigh you and input all of your information into a system. Then, every month, there’s “Wellness” challenges and competition to get the most steps, blah blah blah, da da da, yada yada yada. (I’m sure you get it). Well, every time we have these events, the most random people ask if I will be attending the events or participating in the step challenges. (Wut?) First of all, leave people alone. Secondly, you are allowed to say “NO”. Embrace this word, take in the negative context. Feel it deep in your bones are you stand tall and remain confident in saying “NO”. You’re allowed to punch diet culture in its cold dead heart. You’re allowed to do you however you choose to.
