The front of your skirt is soiled; a large, dark stain marring the pretty white and pink lace. You can feel tears bubbling at the corner of your eyes, and it takes everything in you not to smear at your mascara as you look up with wide eyes at the imposing form of your brother.
“Nii-san,” you croak, cheeks slick with salty tears, hands reaching out for him, “I’m sorry, I-“
Katsu-nii ignores your words, instead sweeping you into his frame instantly for bruising hug. Cuddling into his throat, your arms wrap around his neck and you can feel the faint brush of his lips against the crown of your head as he lays a kiss into your hair.
Your Nii-san’s breath is cool as he speaks, and you know there is no kindness in the words, no hesitation, at least, not for the people who threw coffee all over your clothes… and part of you trembles in fear at the waves of shock and anger that radiate off of his body.
But you know better than that. You know your Katsu-nii.
“I-It was them,” you blubber, hiccuping as you pull back from his neck to point at the group of people that chortle down the road, the boys all nasty grins and the girls with eyes that glow jealous and green.
Bakugo stands immediately, ensuring that your feet are still safely on the ground as he pulls away, before turning to the kids that laugh in your direction.
“Wait, Nii-san…” you sniff, grabbing his hand, and though his eyes flicker with hatred, he doesn’t hesitate to turn back around attentively, his expression softening at the way you try to grab at his shoulders.
Leaning back down, he lets you cling to his shoulder, pulling his cheek to your lips to leave one cherry-chapstick and tear-tasting good luck kiss in their place.
Blinking at you once, he swipes a warm thumb over a pearly tear that spills over your cheek, and it’s as if you already know what it is he’s trying to say.
Though the intimacy fades quickly once he’s back to his full height and turning around, it’s made up for by the fact that the kids who made fun of you have already started running.
Suddenly, you don’t feel as bad.
