More likely to use Instagram than FacebookSo just to fill people in I-generation is the current generation of young people, start and end dates not official but I feel my age group is for sure apart of it. At the moment people believe the I-Generation to be from 1995-2012, but some have gone up to 2016. Here are some points I found interestingly actuate.Ā
- People from theĀ I-Generation are less likely to drink: I think this is really actuate, most of my friends donāt drink or donāt drink often. I think the reason for this is because there isnāt social pressure of drinking alcohol. Peer pressure isnāt too much of an issue and nobody feels obliged to drink too much. I myself, donāt drink too much alcohol, mainly because I think its a waste of time. The thought of being drunk is both scary and stupid to me. Most people regret it.
- We are much more tolerant of others (cultures, sexuality, race): This is possibly the biggest plus of the generation. Not counting the internet of course with 4-chan and SJW raids. But generally, in real life, we are accepting of everyone. Talk to mostly anyone around the age of 13-22 about LGBT stuff and it most likely wonāt bother them. And if it dose bother them there is almost always someone whoād have a go at them. I think there is also a rise in LGBT people because of the lack of judgement by peers.Ā
-Ā Delay serious romantic relationships: Most of the people my age, either wait for the right person or hop between people. I myself have only been in 1 relationship plus 1 almost-relationship. I have friends whoāve never had relationships and some not bothered about having one anytime soon (including myself).Ā I think generally, our generation is more picky and patient or just like being in relationships that arenāt that serious.Ā
- Delay driving: Yeah just like alcohol I have friends who arenāt interested in driving. Yet again, Iām one of these people. I just donāt trust myself on a road.
- Less likely to go see a movie: Yep. Putlocker, 123 movies and other pirate websites helped with this. Not something I do personally with movies, especially ones in cinemas. I know a lot of people who donāt care about giving people in the film industry money...
Iāve outlined the more positive points, there are more ānegativeā points such as the late nights, overuse of technology. lack of social face to face contact and undoubtedly the worst of all the rise in mental health problems and suicide, a problem that has effected most teens in some way. Iām guilty of late nights and technology use and to some extent the lack of irl socialising (Iām better then I was). Of course Iāve had my issues with mental heath, especially my anxiety. Iām quite lucky that depression isnāt too much of an issue.
But letās look more at the positives, I personally feel they outweigh the negatives.
