A year after his death a source that spoke to Chosun Ilbo, a conservative newspaper in South Korea that asked to remain nameless said that Kim Jong Il died upon discovery that his major career achievements of new textile and steel manufacturing plants as well as a hydro-electric power plant all had major defects.
The source says that it wasn’t just a crack but water leaks were evident thus compromising the overall safety of the project. The standard time frame to build the Huichon, Jagang Province hydro-electric power plant would have been 10 years but in a rush to make up for years of economic mismanagement the nation’s leader kim Jon-Il rushed it to be completed in 3 years.
