Multitasking ↠Elijah & Open
Studying was one of the only pastimes that Elijah let himself become absorbed in. He wasn't one for sitting by the lake watching the clouds, and he definitely wasn't one for mindless chatter in the common room. He preferred his time to be spent productively. As obsessive and crazy as it made him seem to some people. It wasn't like he didn't know that other people were off-put by his unnatural work ethic. But it also worried him, that this sometimes seemed to set him away from his peers. He would never admit it, but occasionally it almost made him feel lonely. That was all a part of it though, he supposed, if he wanted to succeed he would have to put up with it. Besides, it wasn't as if loneliness were the worst thing in the world.
Elijah was presently sitting in his usual spot in the Ravenclaw common room. There were other students in the room, most of them reading, a few of them chatting in whispers as to not disturb those who were doing work on their studies. That was what Elijah liked most about being a Ravenclaw, he thought, it came with the privilege of peace and quiet. He could only imagine how loud the Gryffindor common room must be. The thought almost made him shudder. He wondered if anyone in that house ever got any studying done at all. He knew that there were some mildly clever members of the other house, but he wasn't really sure what it was they did that involved schoolwork. Observing them throughout the rest of the school Elijah could only come to the conclusion that it wasn't really much at all.Â
Snapping his textbook shut, Elijah decided suddenly that he was hungry. In fact, he realized, he was quite hungry and remembered that he hadn't eaten all day. He could tell by looking out the window that it must be about supper time, and his suspicion was confirmed when he looked around and spotted the clock. He rubbed at his neck, slightly annoyed at this development, but decided that he had better eat something rather than starve himself to the point of aggravation. Then he would only make himself even worse and he would get no work done, which would be pointless. Besides, he thought, he could always just study while he was eating. Multitasking was something Elijah had become pretty accustomed to--although he hadn't managed to come up with a way to study whilst practicing quidditch-- as he hated nothing more than conversations about the weather and twiddling his thumbs.
After reaching the Great Hall, Elijah sat down at  a more or less random spot. He was chewing on a piece of bread with butter and reading from his textbook. This was a normal thing for him. Never did he enjoy most activities fully, rather he preferred to half pay attention to his daily activities while increasing the amount of time he could stick a book in front of his nose. It was as Elijah was eating and studying when suddenly he realized his book was covered in water. "Bloody hell," he murmured, grabbing his textbook from the table and hopelessly trying to shake it out as a way to dry it.
