She’s simply a new toy that fascinates me more than others. And you could say she can’t get enough of me.
So what’s your problem with her?
Is she?
How much would you say you like me, Leon?
Thank Merlin. Delph- Yeah, I know her. I know her too well.
You know her "too well"? Pray tell, what does that mean?
what's ryker's view on religion? where would he travel if given unlimited funds to do so? how much importance does he place on appearance?
WHAT'S RYKER'S VIEW ON RELIGION?
John is a sceptic that only accepts empirical data; he realises that a deity only exists in the minds of those who believe in them, as empirical data shows. To him, however, deities don't exist and when life is shit it's not shit because of the influence or absence of influence of a deity. It's because life is just shit. Needless to say, John is an atheist.
WHERE WOULD HE TRAVEL IF GIVEN UNLIMITED FUNDS TO DO SO?
John has, by his uncle's corporation, the unlimited funds to go anywhere on Earth and yet he stays at home as much as he can. If truly faced with unlimited funds (and means) to travel wherever he wants to, it would be far away from Earth, far away from humanity.
HOW MUCH IMPORTANCE DOES HE PLACE ON APPEARANCE?
None at all. He was raised being told that his mind was the most important and most useful thing he owns, and indeed, his family considers him useful only in how far he can use his mind (seeing as that is his exact purpose of existing). Importance in appearance is intricately woven into social status, and the care for social status means one has to be in tune with what is socially conventional and/or acceptable. John couldn't care less about these things, and thus he doesn't place much importance on appearance.
I’d have to pretend to listen. Merlin, don’t tell me you’re turned bisexual.
No. The fact that you'd think that is disgusting. I said social, not sexual. You may know her, as she is a Slytherin as well; Delphine Beckett.

I’m going to take that as you haven’t eaten. Working on something? Elaborate for me, will you.
If I talked science to you, would you really understand, Leon? Regardless, my additional problem is a more social one, concerning a girl.
frozen [john/penny]
Penny couldn’t stay still. Not with the full moon only a week ago, how could she? People were going about their daily business as if nothing exciting was going to happen! She couldn’t comprehend why people put it in the back of their minds. She hasn’t been very successful in the past but she had a feeling this year. This year she was going to find one and she was going to do anything she could to study them. Now that she thought about it, that sounded pretty horrible but if she wanted to find the cure for lyconthropy this what she had to do. Sometimes she wondered why she wasn’t placed in Ravenclaw with her odd things. Penelope wasn’t unintelligent; in actually she was very smart-very very smart but she didn’t promote her intelligence like some Ravenclaws she had known over the years but she did admit she was a bit pushy on her beliefs but in her defense it was all for a good cause! At least she believed it was all for a good cause.
Sighing, the brown-red haired girl stood from her seat at a table in the library, gathering all of her things she shoved them into her bag before rushing out of the library. She was walking down the corridor, she needed to go out side, she needed some fresh air and to get away from people indoors. She felt suffocated, she felt compressed into a small space and she hated that feeling. She wanted to scream and shout in frustration about how uncomfortable she was feeling and she only got this way once a month, the full moon. It was the excitement, the fear, the anxiety of it all was getting to her and she couldn’t contain it and being indoors with people who could care less was infuriating! She couldn’t stand it, it angered her and she only wanted to shout and tell them that the full moon was as safe a night as any other night of the month!
Sighing, she stopped walking and closed her eyes, she was going to take deep breathes, in and out, in and out, in and out. Just like her father taught her when she was younger and would have these episodes of anger and frustration. Feeling a bit calmer she opened her eyes and turned the corner near the entrance but what she met there made her stop in her tracks. A boy, her age, her year. She remembered seeing him around before but she couldn’t place a name with the face.
Blue eyes met blue fingers and her eyes widened. Dropping all of her things she rushed over to him. “Oh dear, your fingers they’re blue-ing and…and you’re shivering, oh dear you must be freezing.” Penny fussed as she grabbed her scarf from her bag and wrapped it around his shoulders quickly-not even thinking about personal space. She rubbed her hands together to create heat and covered his freezing hands with hers. “Sorry…you’re cold. It’s best to warm you up.” She apologized quietly, looking up at him. “Why were you outside so long to get this cold? It’s dangerous.”
Penny was a worry wort, no doubt about that. She would rush to the aid of someone who she disliked if they needed it. It was her maternal instincts that had kicked in ten years too early. “Are you alright?” She asked him.
For a long moment, John couldn't comprehend what was happening. He wasn't very worried about his personal space; he lived with people who took personal space as mythos and made it almost their job to break into the intimate space of nigh every person they came across. John had long learned to tolerate people in his personal space, that personal space was a social concept useless to the application of his own life. He'd gotten used to ignoring any breaches of this space. And so this girl, a Gryffindor, he realised, was no different. Perhaps not immediately tolerated, but capable of being ignored.
The incomprehension didn't come with her stepping into his personal space without hesitation. No, it was the worry, the maternal behaviour that was so very alien to John. His father, who had made his own sister the mother of his children, had made sure John and his older brothers had no maternal influences in their life whatsoever. It was partly why John had been so brainwashed into believing that women were inferior to men; he'd never had a proper relationship with any woman in his life. He'd been raised by men who'd been raised by men, told women were less by men who had been told the same in that maternal-lacking lives. John never doubted this idea simply because doubt wasn't allowed in his family, and any deviation from the general consensus of his family could be seen as disloyalty. And disloyalty was severely punishable.
No matter what people thought of John, however, he wasn't actively mean or rude. Granted, he didn't think about things like social niceties, about feelings or questionable opinions, but the things he said weren't said simply to hurt. They were said because they were the things he thought, observed or experienced. And what he was currently thinking, observing and experiencing was a girl his age, of an unknown nomenclature, holding his hand and fretting over him like a mother bird.
"I'm fine," John replied monotonously, pulling his blue fingers out of her grip as he blinked her, trying to comprehend her foreign behaviour. "What are you doing?"
Yeah, yeah, okay, Johnny. You eaten today?
I will eat when I'm hungry. I'm working on something.
Oh look, it’s my favorite misogynist.
I maintain a dislike for, by and large, all living creatures, not women especially. I would call myself less of a misogynist and more of a... well, in the same trend of its cousin word, a misomnist.
Hippogriff’s are far better company than anyone in the castle. Call me a misanthrope but it’s true.
Misanthrope.

If anyone’s seen a black cat, that happens to go by the name of Bruce, catch the bugger for me. He didn’t appreciate being washed..
What should prevent me from having it destroyed?
frozen [john/open]
There was the problem. Or, the thing with John was that he had many problems, many, many problems that made him unfit for society and socially unmanageable at best. There were problems about him that hurt both his environment and himself, none of which he would ever outright see as being problems, or even issues of any kind. There was the problem, though, that left him so very disconnected from the world, he might as well not belong to it for as long as the problem took precedent. The problem being his obsessive nature.
The way his obsessive nature manifested wasn't in any manic way. It was quiet, private, reserved, the type that wasn't noticed by an outsider until that outsider found out he hadn't slept in three days already because it was always just finishing this, which ultimately lead to different tangents and more of the type of finishing which was, essentially, never finished. The type of obsession that got you stuck in your mind, in your information, in your books and in your work. Without his family, his brother to jerk him back into reality, John would have a habit of working himself into the hospital wing due to dehydration, malnourishment or plain old exhaustion.
In December, the beginning stages of hypothermia could also be the cause. He enjoyed the crisp smell of the pre-winter air, though, the way the cold cut a near tangible course through his airways into his lungs, and every breath taken was like it was especially oxygen-rich, though he knew oxygen-levels inside and outside were exactly the same. The common room was as busy as the library during these cold days, everyone loathe to be caught in the chill of high Scotland's frigidity, huddling around fireplaces and lining their warmest clothes with heating charms.
John barely felt the cold. Granted, his clothes, too, enjoyed heating charms, but with wearing nigh anything but his uniform, the vicious winds that the British Isles knew very well cut through even that security James had provided all his little brother's clothes with; John himself wouldn't even think of it, could barely pull himself away from his mind into reality to function in it. Which made it such a surprise to him that, when he looked up, the ground sported a decent few inches of snow that he hadn't been aware of falling, his hands were a vicious blue-purplish in colour and proved essentially useless in the further recording of his thoughts.
He'd been seated on the steps of the castle's entrance hall, surrounded and coated in the frozen produce of the sky, noticing only now how uncomfortably clenched all his muscles were; his jaw hurt from how his teeth had been gritted together, his back tense and his hands and feet numb. As he stood up, his entire body started trembling and it was as though the cold had now even frozen his previously over-productive mind to a screeching halt. And the only thing he could muster about it all was confusion.
The reintegration with reality always left John disorientated and confused, and this time was no different. He sniffed his nose and would wipe it on his sleeve if he had the capability of using his extremities. Turning around, John pulled on the large doors of the entrance hall to the castle which promised warmth and a regenerative ability to his body, but the doors wouldn't budge. A frown slid onto his face as he looked up at the doors, pulling yet again, harder this time, but with the cold and the tensing of his muscles, he could only open it far enough to put his foot in between the door.
The heavy door hurt, but while the pain was real and felt, John didn't flinch or even so much as react to the stimulus. Instead, he wedged his arm between the door and used it to push the door open from the inside, enough to let him in. Once inside, the practically blue boy leaned against the door, not even moving when another student stopped before him, with the obvious intention of going outside.
All he could do was stare in confusion while his brain melted back to a temperature that would allow it to function.

John, when he remembers to eat and drink, is very particular about his food and drink. He only eats fresh things, hates anything that is processed or oily, and don't even try to get him to eat fast food, because there's a good chance he will curse you. And as for drink, he usually only drinks water, juices and the occasional chocolate milk.
The way they teach Earth Magic at this school is bullshit.
As always Ryker, depends what it is.
I'd rather it was discussed in certain privacy.

The way they teach Earth Magic at this school is bullshit.
I never claimed to have any.
In other news ninety percent of humans at this school are annoying the fuck out of me. They ask stupid questions and don’t seem to understand sarcasm. Certain families should not be allowed to breed.
You say that as though this is actual news. On another note, I need your assistance with something.
