I wanted to start documenting my crochet projects and the pattern modifications I made and thought making some posts would help me remember!!
This is a set of three projects for my friend, their husband, and their baby for Christmas.
First is Hooked By Robin's easy one row repeat scarf using K+C Essentials Superwash Merino Wool. I chained 30 stitches and used 400 grams of "Golden Mango" to make a 9" wide 6' long scarf. The stitch is basically 2 hdc in every other chain and then hdc in the middle of the "V"s that form and Robin's video is *awesome* for beginners--would definitely recommend it. Took me about 14 hours over three days--the tassels took me a weirdly long time to cut, apply, and trim.
My friend wanted a big, chunky scarf in mustard and I think I delivered!
Then I made their husband a slouchy beanie and their baby a more fitted beanie in Wool Ease worsted weight with the same stitch (obviously had to do increases at the top of the hats so the V stitches don't go all the way up, but still hdc throughout).
Their husband's beanie has ribbing at the rim to allow for that slouchy look, and then I had to give their baby a pom pom in the mustard so she matches both her parents!
The baby beanie took a couple of hours since I had to make and trim up the pom pom, and dad's beanie took maybe three hours because I had to frog and redo the ribbing (went from sc ribbing down to slst ribbing).
Not pictured: The neck warmer I made for dad by holding two strands of the Wool Ease together and doing a basic hdc rib stitch about 20 stitches wide until it was 22" long and then sc the ends together. The neck warmer took practically no time at all--maybe an hour? I think the ribbing on his beanie and using hdc for the neck warmer pulled them together. I'm hoping the neck warmer gets some good use because he works with machinery outdoors so he gets cold but can't wear scarves.
I think these turned out pretty cute as a set, and I'm really happy with them :)
