SCRIPTURE:
Turn my eyes from looking at what is worthless; give me life in Your ways. ~ Psalm 119:37
OBSERVATION:
A lot of "New Year's resolutions" in this Psalm...
But this one spoke the loudest and clearest...
That in spite of my eyes "looking at [and my ears listening to - and my taking part in], what is worthless," - wasting time and attention on the idiot box, social media, the internet in general, the radio, the watercooler nonsense...
...He has given me life in His ways...
...in Jesus...
APPLICATION:
Open my eyes and contemplate the wondrous things from His instruction...(v. 18)
Tell Him about my life - He knows already but still wants to hear it from me... (v. 26)
Think about my ways... (v, 59)
Turn my steps back to His decrees (v. 59)
Listen for His answer and His teaching... (v. 26)
Do not forget His commands... (v. 176)
Obey His commands... (v. 115)
PRAYER: (including verses 115 &133)
Promising Father God - I ask Your forgiveness for my not departing from the distractions of the evil one, and ask Your Holy Spirit's guidance and encouragement and strength to guide me away from the enemy's temptations so that I may obey and treasure Your Word and Your commands... Make my steps steady through Your promise of salvation through Jesus, and don’t let any sin dominate me... In His Name, Father, and for Your praise and honor and glory...
Grateful to be worthy - through His grace...
