California Dreamin’ - The Mamas and Papas - Just sing along with this song, it’s so fucking easy. My mother showed this song to me and ever since then we just both sing so loudly to this in the car.

The Night We Met - Lord Huron - am I really the only one who isn’t over 13 reasons why?

Survival - Muse - I was so hyped when I found out that they would be making the olympic song in England that year. Awesome.

If I Get High - Nothing But Thieves - Ya’ll I love my bois nbt, his voice is just so nice and the songs overall are just great. After Muse, this is my favorite band for sure.

Het Dorp - Wim Sonneveld - lol, sorry I’m doing this to you guys since it’s dutch and probably not really your style of music, but it’s my childhood music, so this song hits me very deep every time.

Let It Be - The Beatles - It’s just so beautiful, not only the sound but also the lyrics. 

Govinda -  Kula Shaker - I’ve known this song for so long and just recently found out that the band are all white, I was honestly so shook.

The Chain - Fleetwood Mac - I loved Guardians Of The Galaxy so much wtf, and the music was also so lit omg I want to watch it again. 

The Girl With X-Ray Eyes - Noel Gallagher - To all you oasis fans ayyy

Bad - U2 - I actually found this song recently and couldn’t stop listening to it. Of course I’ve known U2 for a while now, but this song I’ve apparently missed.

Wall of Glass - Liam Gallagher - Sad they went their own ways, but also good since they make amazing songs as individuals 

The Handler - Muse - I like muse, okay, get over it.

Krantenwijk - Lil Kleine - This is so fucking popular in the Netherlands jfc, love it tho.

Amar Pelos Dois - Salvador Sobral - So my mom and I were so fucking hyped when he won, like this guy deserves that eurovision onehunderdfuckingprocent. He is so cute too wtf. And yes, I can’t understand it lol

City Of Blinding Lights - U2 - yo, besides Muse and nbt, this band gives me the fucking chills. I’ve known them from the moment I first ever heard music probably, since my father is a huge U2 fan and plays it endlessly in the house.

When mentioning a song called ‘Het Dorp’ to your average Dutchie, they will probably think you mean the one made famous by Wim Sonneveld. This song paints a postcard picture of a pre-industrialized village with simple, artisanal people, unspoiled by the cruelties of modernity. An sickeningly romantic picture.

This picture is bullshit. Growing up in a village, especially if you’re a bit different, is a stifling experience, as testified in the other song called ‘Het Dorp’, originally performed by Flemish singer-songwriter Zjef Vanuytsel, and recently covered by metal outfit Amenra. Enjoy.
