Sorry, that it took me so long, girl!

Musa and Helia immediately vibe with each other, but it takes a long time for them to realize there is more to it than being friends. It is primarily art, of course, that connects them. In Helia's case, it's painting, in Musa's case, it's music. Neither of them wants to hurt Flora and both suppress budding romantic feelings.

Helia is the only one of the boys who gets through to Musa when she has had another argument with Riven. They don't talk much to each other, they just sit next to each other and enjoy each other's company. They don't need words to understand each other. With Helia, she can be herself and doesn't have to pretend. I think the fact that Musa gets longer hair from season 3 and generally becomes more feminine (apart from the fact that Rainbow wanted to make her more attractive for merch) is that she was always competing with Darcy internally. Darcy was Riven's girlfriend before her and the exact opposite of tomboy Musa. Darcy is super feminine, has long, straight hair… Musa also wanted to become a feminine girl for Riven. She wanted to change for him because she believes that she has no chance as her true self. Helia sees through this very quickly and for the first time in a long time, Musa can just cry uncontrollably because she realizes that she is losing herself for a guy who will never love her for who she really is.

After that, they are inseparable. Helia paints while Musa makes music. Her music is a great inspiration for him. Later, he will also create the covers for her music.

Their love language is primarily mutual trust. Musa finally knows where she stands without having to reassure herself with words. Musa is definitely the more active one in the relationship, which is ultimately the one who takes the first step.

I’m very fortunate to be in a program that offers courses like LGBTQ+ Issues in Higher Education. Last semester, I took Multicultural Issues in Higher Ed and both of these classes have opened my eyes and offered an opportunity for much reflection and discussion. These are just two of the textbooks I’m reading in my LGBTQ+ Issues course this semester.
