"I love you. I hate you."
I absolutely love the idea of Flug and Herbert being brothers. Before everything fell apart, they were inseparable. They looked up to each other, worked side by side, and dreamed of becoming the greatest villains the world had ever seen. They spent countless hours inventing gadgets, coming up with elaborate schemes, and imagining the day everyone would fear the two genius brothers. No matter what happened, they always believed they would face the future together.
But somewhere along the way, everything changed.
Herbert began to question the path they were on. He realized he didn't want to spend his life hurting innocent people anymore, and after a long struggle with himself, he made the difficult decision to leave that life behind and become one of the good guys.
To Kenny, it felt like the ultimate betrayal.
The person he trusted most had abandoned him. The brother who promised they would conquer the world together had walked away from everything they built. Kenny buried his heartbreak beneath anger, convincing himself that Herbert had chosen strangers over his own family. Ever since then, he treated Herbert like an enemy, insisting that his brother meant nothing to him anymore.
Herbert, however, never stopped loving Kenny.
Even after all the insults, the arguments, and the countless battles between them, Herbert couldn't bring himself to hate his little brother. Every fight ended with Herbert trying to reason with him instead of defeating him. He still believed that somewhere beneath all the rage was the kind, brilliant little brother he grew up with.
Kenny acts as though he despises Herbert, calling him a traitor and a coward whenever they cross paths. But the truth is much more complicated. Every time he's given the perfect opportunity to eliminate Herbert once and for all, he hesitates. His hand freezes. His inventions mysteriously "malfunction." He always finds an excuse, because despite everything he's told himself over the years, he simply doesn't have the heart to kill his own brother.
Deep down, Kenny still loves Herbert.
He's just too hurt, too stubborn, and too afraid to admit it.
Herbert knows that hesitation isn't weakness it's proof that the bond they once shared hasn't disappeared completely. That's why he refuses to give up on Kenny. No matter how many times they're forced onto opposite sides of a battle, Herbert will always hope that one day his little brother finds his way back.
Because to Herbert, Kenny isn't just another villain.
He's family.
And no amount of betrayal, anger, or years spent as enemies could ever change that.
