Something that bugged me and has continued to bug me since I noticed it:
So we all know Princess Kaitlyn Kiramann led a strike team before entering her Fascist Dictator "arc". And we know that the method they were using to incapacitate their targets was by using The Grey. We also know that their three objectives were 1) locate Jinx, 2) dismantle shimmer, and 3) neutralize any agent loyal to Silco. We ALSO know, judging by the Hellfire MV in 'Finally Got the Name Right', that Kaitlyn, Vi, and the three (backup) musketeers consider the Chembarons as falling into the third category, considering they took out Margot and Chross. These are all inarguable facts.
What doesn't fit into this narrative is a character named Heenot. Heenot, if you recall, is one of Smeech's lackeys, and is sent into a building belonging to Margot which The Team is actively raiding in episode 2 'Watch it all Burn'.
(Margot makes no mention of this when we see her shortly after, seemingly fixated on the terf war w/ Chross. "You started this dance when you [raided] the Rapture Walk." "What could I want with your boulevard of filth?" I wonder if The Team's actions were the instigators to the terf wars. Sure there was a power vaccum after Silco died and the remaining Chembarons are scrambling for his seat, but surely starting terf wars wouldn't help if they wanted to consolidate their power? Could Kaitlyn's Team be escalating the fighting that's throwing the Undercity into turmoil? I'm not saying one way or the other- just something to think about.)
Back to Heenot. Heenot walks through Margot's place that is so heavy with The Grey it's spilling out of the building. Even while wearing a gas mask his eyes are bloodshot. He walks past bodies laid out on the floor and propped against walls that gasp and wheeze for air. Then he encounters what looks to be a monster cloaked in the green shadows of The Grey, something unidentifiable with bright blue-white lights for eyes- we cut to the next scene.
We later find out that this "monster" was The Strike Team... which means that Heenot encountered The Team. Maybe you see where I'm going with this- saying "wait... wait no that doesn't make sense-" like me. Or maybe you're thinking "yes duh, obviously. So what? We knew this because Vi recognizes him in the opening scene of episode 3." Which is the point! If The Team encountered Heenot as early as episode 2, then why did they let him go? They KNEW he was one of Smeech's goons! We saw what they did to Margot's goons- Heenot walked past them to encounter The Team!
Now I raise you an even more loaded thought: What About Smeech? After the scene where The Team encounters Heenot, when we next see Smeech he is Traumatized. Stunned Silent and Speechless. The issue of Topside is brought up and HE is the one to suggest they hand over Jinx. "'S all they really want." And then later when he manages to get a hold of Jinx for a bit outside of the arcade, he mentions "They want you alive." All those wanted posters for Jinx? They only say "WANTED" They don't say "WANTED ALIVE". So how would he know they want her alive?
There's also another interesting line of thought to follow- one we aren't lead to really question: Why did The Team target the arcade? How did they manage to target the one place Jinx just happened to be? Sure you could say that, considering they had Vi, Vi could point the arcade out as one of the places they used to hangout. But how did they manage to time it that perfectly? Was it really a coincidence? And when Jinx manages to escape the arcade in spite of The Grey-Wielding Team, Smeech ambushes her while saying "Right through [The Strike Teams's] fingers, you must be part eel." So he knew the Strike Team was in there. Again, it could be a coincidence I guess. He was following Jinx, so if he was waiting outside for her to leave he'd see it when the enforcers went it before she'd left. But was it really a coincidence?
I posit this take: The Strike Team encounters Heenot in Margot's place. Heenot, willingly or unwillingly, takes them to Smeech, who at this moment is just outside. Smeech, in order to escape whatever Kaitlyn's got in store for The Chembarons, rapidly offers Kaitlyn something she can't refuse: Jinx['s location]. He knows where she's going to be at a specific time of day: "What'd I tell ya," he says when she exits The Last Drop. He makes this deal with Kaitlyn: Let me go now, and I can track down Jinx and send you her way. And apparently she takes it! So when Jinx goes to the arcade and spends a good chuck of time making Sevika an arm, Smeech takes the chance to tell The Team where she is, which would explain how they timed it so perfectly. And maybe the reason why Kaitlyn was so hostile to Heenot in the opening of episode 3 was because Smeech hadn't filled his end of the deal: as far as they'd found Jinx wasn't where he'd told them she'd be.
This only leaves one question you may want to ask me: But why would Kaitlyn take the deal? She hates The Chembarons- she's actively hunting them down! And my answer to that is: I don't fucking know bro. Only explanation there could even possibly be would be that she got so sick of having no results and being no closer to catching Jinx that she "made a deal with the devil" (*gestures at the lyrics of Hellfire*). But on the other hand: if that's not how it happened... explain Heenot.
Why wasn't he arrested the FIRST time he encountered The Team in Margot's place? How did he encounter them, and then appear later to not only participate in The Ambush of Jinx, but also to be set up by Jinx in episode 3 to freak out The Team? It's not like he could've just ran away that first time- no shot he manages to escape Lady Sniper and her three and a half armed lackeys.
It makes me wonder- if I'm right, if Jinx stringing up Heenot for The Team to find had even more meaning than we knew. We know it was a set-up to unnerve them and show off the mutilated dolls she'd fashioned after them. We also could suspect that she placed him there to intentionally point The Team(Vi and maybe Kaitlyn) her way. After all, she was setting up and designing a whole place for where she was intending to die. How else would they know to start looking for her in "the old tunnels"? But maybe it was also a spiteful mocking of Kaitlyn's hypocritical actions? "You did ALL THIS, made a deal with a CHEMBARON, just to capture me? And even after stooping so low you still FAILED. Here's YOUR lackey back."
