The end result is something bittersweet--a reminder of the things that keep her going (her daughter, her friends) and the things that went wrong (Gabe, and these children she watched grow into soldiers because she didn’t finish the battle the right way the first time).

(Welp, this got long.) When he was a toddler, Juudai got really attached to a scruffy old dog at a shelter. His fur was long and messy and he was blind in one eye but he was Juudai’s absolute favourite. The dog was always sad until Juudai came by, and suddenly he acted like he was a puppy again. The shelter owners sometimes asked if Juudai was sure he didn’t want to see one of the ‘nicer’ dogs instead, but while they were cute, Juudai was attached to this one. Besides, the others already got a lot of attention from other people, whereas he felt like the owners didn’t put as much care into his dog. Sure enough, soon the workers told him that they were putting the dog down and Juudai plead with them not to. He also begged his parents to let him adopt it, but since they were always too busy, they said that he was too hyperactive back then to take care of it by himself. So instead he would take the poor thing on walks and try to convince other people to adopt it before it was too late. One day he stopped by and the dog was gone. He felt like he had failed his best friend and was about to start bawling when the owner told him that an elderly man adopted it. Apparently the old man saw Juudai’s desperate efforts and was moved by how a kid could love and care about an old animal that much. Unfortunately, Juudai never found out who the old man was, but at least his dog was happy. (Whether or not it was the truth is arguable though...)

★ - sad headcanon: it took a long time for nico to begin to believe that his relationship with will would last. it was for more than one reason (namely, his low self esteem and the knowledge that first relationships almost never work out) and in the beginning it didn’t really bother him that much. he figured there would come a day when he and will would fall out of love or something more drastic would happen, but he felt like as long as he knew it was coming, he’d be fine. however, as their relationship progressed, the idea of not spending the rest of his life with will became harder and harder to accept. he tried not to spend excessive amounts of time worrying about it, and didn’t in the beginning, but one night when he was tired and had already had a rough day he found himself crying because damn it, he didn’t care if he was only nineteen and had only ever dated one person, he loved will and he couldn’t stand the idea of things not working out. it wasn’t until he’d had a long conversation with will one night when will had admitted to, “not being able to imagine a life without you,” that nico began to believe that maybe this could last, that maybe this person wouldn’t leave him.

and will. oh my god. as soon as will gets hurt, nico’s all over him, refusing to leave the infirmary and trying to help him. honestly, nico’s such a sweetheart to him (admittedly with a few “you idiot how could you get hurt what were you thinking” comments) but unfortunately, will just stresses the whole time about having to get back to work. and nico’s like “but we have time to just talk now this is good WAIT HELL NO GET BACK IN THAT BED” but no matter how much will drives him crazy nico refuses to leave. by the end of the day nico’s so exhausted that he falls asleep in the chair next to will’s bed, making will smile.

McCree: Well, A.) Peacekeeper, but also B.) His hat. Everyone already puts a great amount of sentimentality on it for him, but I think he picked it up sometime during Overwatch’s first run. It may or may not have even been a gift, but it’s something he became kind of known for--black hat for Blackwatch sure, but also a regular hat for his downtime. Anyone on base could pick out “that cowboy kid” by looking for the six-foot tall man with a cowboy hat on. It’s sentiment for his image, and days gone by, and also he just looks good in it.
