Starting this month, I will be highlighting a new charity every month. People have consistently stated that they think I should be paid for dealing with all of this, but I am very comfortable with my life. Instead, I will be highlighting a new charity every month (more or less, as I have time) and encouraging people who have a spare dollar or two to donate to them instead.

Given the current big situation, I figured this would be an appropriate charity to kick this off with.

This month's highlighted charity is RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States.

RAINN provides support, resources, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence, including children and teenagers. They operate the National Sexual Assault Hotline, where survivors and their loved ones can receive confidential support, information, and help finding local resources. They also operate the National Sexual Abuse Hotline through Childhelp, which provides support specifically for children and teens experiencing abuse, as well as adults who are concerned about a child's safety.

Beyond direct support, RAINN works on prevention and education, helps improve how communities and institutions respond to sexual violence, provides training for professionals who work with survivors, and advocates for policies that protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.

A lot of their work focuses on making sure survivors are believed, supported, and given access to resources, especially people who may feel powerless or unsure of where to turn. For children in particular, having safe adults, accessible resources, and systems designed to listen to them can make an enormous difference.

If you are able, consider donating, sharing their resources, or learning more about their work. Supporting organizations that help survivors and protect vulnerable people is always worthwhile.
