Found this video, which does a good job of explaining not only how to wrap/wear/tie the thing, but also what the various styles can be used for. Obviously, these aren't the only ways to wear a keffiyeh/shemagh, but twenty-one ways is a lot.

The presenter mentions how styles affect thermoregulation, sometimes even explaining the environment you'd want to use it in, and the styles include a sun visor, a scarf, a canteen holder, a hood, a sandstorm air filter, and more. I would have appreciated a bit more depth in some of the explanations, but my layperson's knowledge of thermoregulation and evaporative cooling and the fact that the local climate affects a lot of aspects of culture was good enough to fill in the gaps.
