"Promise?" The large Koopa asked, his voice carrying an almost childlike worry, as though he still needed to hear that certainty one more time before he could truly believe it.

"Promise." She answered without the slightest hesitation as she hooked her pinky finger around Bowser's. It was the very same promise she had once made to Bowser Jr. And she fully intended to keep it.

Finally relieved to feel the tension slowly leaving Bowser's shoulders, Cinder gently moved closer before wrapping herself tenderly around his massive arm. Thankfully, he removed his heavy bracelets before going to sleep... otherwise she probably would have ended up crushed beneath their weight trying to cuddle him like this. Snuggled against his warm bicep, her cheek resting against his scales, she eventually felt her eyelids grow heavy while the rain continued falling beyond the castle windows. Her smile never truly left her face before she peacefully drifted to sleep against Bowser. The Koopa didn't dare move for fear of waking her, but the sudden closeness of his queen made his heart beat a little harder beneath his plastron. He cherished every touch, every embrace, and every moment spent by her side as though they were the most precious treasures in existence. His eyes lowered toward Cinder, watching her long red hair spread across him while her calm breathing softly warmed his scales. Even though the storm still rumbled outside the castle windows, a strange sense of peace finally began soothing the chaos inside his mind."

Passage of "Fragements of a Voice"

I absolutely melted reading this passage. I've always loved seeing my favorite couples sleeping together (April and Donatello, for example). There's something so simple yet incredibly adorable about it—it really shows just how close they are and how much they trust each other.

In this scene, Bowser is struggling with doubts, wondering if he truly deserves all this love. And then his wife, Cinder, gently reassures him before snuggling up against him.
