Probably part of their particular iteration of the "knight protecting her princess" relationship (which Usagi obviously has in some flavour or another with all the Senshi). I just like their dynamic and I am a filthy casual we never got the later seasons of the original anime being broadcast in my country, so I wasn't exposed to Seiya/Usagi before Haruka/Usagi slammed into my brain with the Crystal anime. (I also never read much of the manga, I don't think the shop I went to had more than the first few volumes back then???)
