Jefferson:H a h you suck
Hamilton:and you choke and die.
We have been Innoculating Angelica and Alexander. The first as before has escaped without any appearance of Infection. The last has had a pretty good share of the disease but is now, I may say, well.
From Alexander Hamilton to Philip Schuyler, 20 November 1786
Angelica and Alexander are Hamilton and Eliza’s second and third children.
I hope My Eliza will accompany you to this place and bring with her Angelica and the three Youngest Children, William I hope you will permit to remain with me. If Eliza should be unable to come up, at least bring William with his Winter Cloaths.
To Alexander Hamilton from Philip Schuyler, 29 September 1800
Angelica is Hamilton’s daughter, 16 at the time. “The three youngest children” are John Church (8), William Stephen (3), and Elizabeth (10 m/o). Philip is probably at college, and the two older sons, Alexander and James, are either in a boarding school or living with their father in New York. (I’m too lazy to check right now.)
The last phrase, though. Just... imaging Hamilton traveling alone with a 3 year old to see Grandpa. (Okay, he would probably have a maid or a nanny with him. Still.)
