sometimes i think abt how will brings all that fun and silliness to hockey and we get to watch him do so many interesting things (last cali fin night against the habs). and then i think about how he brings all that fun and silliness to mack. and then i think about how he said "you need be proud!" to mack after the 100 point goal and how he brings that kind of fun young balance to the insanity of macklin's passion and feats.
not saying that will doesn't have passion, because of course he does, he's in the nhl! but he's able to take it a lot easier and just overall be more lax about it than mack is, which is ultimately what i think mack needs. he also acknowledges the sheer powerhouse that macklin is and the gravity of what it means to have achieved this much in this amount of time.
"enter smith, 20" is not only about them working together as partners and having good chemistry on the ice, but it's also about will's ability to ground mack's achievements to where the rest of the world is watching, remind mack that his shit means something. mack always turns his achievements to the team, but will's always gonna turn mack's achievements back to mack.
