welcome to mack's pov of the pre-hnhb little!wm fiasco. i'm still thinking about how i want to write will's pov bc the scenes are technically the same as mack's, i just want to add will's side of it as well (and writing them together was too clunky, hence the split). like, i have a scene where will's on the phone with grace while mack's showering. u get what i mean? but will's pov will be released though. sometime…in the future……

it's a low-stimulation slower-paced older show that i remember watching when i was younger and i think that kind of stimulation amidst the chaos of them both being little and stressed would do them well in calming them down (even though it's clearly not enough seeing as they have to call toff later, but i digress). oswald's voice is quite pleasant!! and the show lets you sit a little bit with the situations he gets in and think :]
yes i know they end up watching bluey later with toff ok but i wanted to include oswald. they're missing their parents, and oswald is just a safe show for them to fall back on when they can't think of much else! it's routine!!!! in my dreamworld!!!

on that note, i had smitty breaking his routine as a sign that he was #regressing. poor boy kinda goes through it hella lmgohgoihf first he doesn't follow his routine and then he gets hurt to the point of bleeding like aw. and yet through it all he is still sensitive boy yet so terribly honest and so so trusting and :( he's a sweet little boy he really is T_T i love writing tiny!smit from mack's perspective because he looks at mack like mack hung the moon and mack barely feels like he's left earth T_T
i also had smitty mirroring a lot of mack's actions when he's tiny because i believe in smitty personality mirroring and when he's little it's just easiest to do what macky does :" !!

i hope mack's inner and outer dialogue isn't as clunky. i tried to make them both sound small but also understandable…i'm not the biggest fan of when authors write littles/kids to have that really "kiddish" tone (for example, "otay" "tank you" "witerawy" etcetc) because that's not...really how i hear kids? or im just not listening enough.
regardless, it's not my favorite thing (no hate to anyone who does!) so i have to work with some alternatives when it comes to writing little!wm speech. i also do mouth out every piece of dialogue when im writing little!speak just fyi. making sure it sounds right on the mouth.

"With the ice creams?" Will's voice rises, hopeful, eyebrows rising and the corners of his lips turning upwards. That's what Mack wants to hear.
"With the ice creams," Mack repeats, nodding to Will and also to himself. Teeth, then Oswald. Perfect plan. "Open wide, Willy. Ahhhhh."

Eventually, Macklin gives into the silence, unable to stand the tension. "Smitty's little."
That makes Will look up and shoot a glare at Macklin, who glares back with just as much fervor. "Am not!"

samisa but it's sam slowly noticing how misa sometimes struggles to talk when things get too intense, or when full days leave him exhausted to the bone. it's sam noticing how misa licks his lips multiple times, trying to force the words out before giving up, slumping against his stall, mouth closed shut, eyes unfocused. it's sam worrying that someday he won't be able to understand what misa needs and it send him into a frantic reddit search. because misa can retreat so far in his head sometimes that sam fears the day he won't be able to reach out and pull him out of his spiral. so he makes it his mission to find a solution.
and one morning as misa walks into the kitchen, clearly still half asleep, sam signs to him "coffee ?" and misa stares, blinks a few times and as sam signs again, he points at the coffee maker. misa nods in understanding, registering the movement of sam's hand, making it himself, surprised when a grin spread on sam's face. it feels great, being able to commuicate something in a simple and direct way. a different way.
it starts small, a few words here and there, but slowly sam looks at full youtube videos and tiktoks to understand sentences, more complex words and little idioms. and then he and misa spend evening on the couch, legs tangled as sam corrects misa's fingers and shows him words such as "noise" "light" "clothing" so that misa can tell him what's wrong without having to speak.
of course as they progress with sign language it becomes a way to talk without the others even noticing and they gossip like that, misa chuckling softly when sam says something about toff behind his back. they also say sweet things to each other, learn insults, and slowly it becomes a safe tool for misa, a saftey net for sam. because now when misa feels like he is dissociating, he can just sign that and sam nods, paying close attention, knowing that misa is not fully out of reach. not anymore.

(i say winnie the pooh because ive been reading some of the little stories lately and thinking up a bedtime story fic somewhere in the ether cuz i have the words all there T_T, and i think the winnie the pooh cartoons are very low stimulation and perfect for mis who wants to be sleepy but isn't yet. see also: oswald, which will feature itself in my upcoming little!wm fic that im still chipping at :P)
i also think like. toff is like the easiest person to talk to ever. even wm are like "cuz we like talking to u" or something like that in neveroffside (i've been rewatching their pod ep hehhehee) and so that means he basically does anything for misamisa to fall asleep. i was thinking about ghostbuster papa toff cuz of just how scared misamisa was and how toff will do many many things to make all the babysharks laugh!! esp thinking about the hibachi mishap where the egg just. doesn't land in his hat T_T and makin sure mis is comfortable when he was mic'ed up during media day ueueee....
the ghostbusters thing becoming like. a Thing for little!misamisa. like

"Yes ma'am." Tyler skips steps as he runs upstairs, vacuum in one hand and tube in the other. HIs arm immediately slots behind Michael's shoulder when he makes it to the top. "Ah, young Mikey needs my help again, is that right?"
Michael nods, face tilted down and eyes angled up at Tyler. His teddy is tucked under his chin. "P'ease?"
Tyler smiles, can't help but ruffle Michael's hair. "I am honored you continue to trust the San Jose Ghostbuster's service. I will do my best to live up to your expectations."
y'know what i mean? like now that papa has cleared his room and he gets a good night sleep, papa has to clear his room every night or he'll get bad sleeps alone again, and he doesn't wanna keep bothering mama and having her hold his hand every night until he sleeps...that's not fair of him. 'sides, its funny to see papa get put to work!! he always makes funny little sounds that have misa giggling soooo hard, hiding his face behind mr. bear as he laughs
gosh now im thinking of. oh my GOD im thinking of tycat trying to get misa to face his fears and you know how they do it? well, a chief ghostbuster needs his assistant, does he not!!
so misa gets promoted to assistant ghost buster when toff pulls out an old vacuum from the closet (same style as toff's, just one they don't use very often anymore ever since they got the new one) and gives it to misa and is basically just like
"misa, you've watched me for long enough. i think it's about time you get promoted!"
"pro-mo-ded?"
"exactly that, bud. you're gonna help papa fight away some evil ghosts!!"
initially of course baby misa is very very nervous and hesitant, especially when toff always looks like he has it handled, but cat insists he's gotta at least try
and when he does it comes so easily, copying papa toffs sounds and swishes and "catcat mama i caught a ghost!!!" and she's sooo proud of him and toff heers and picks him up and spins him around like!! yay!! first ghost for the san jose ghostbusters newest member!!! T_T
