Some information about the Ao3 Hackers
Major update: Their motive is 100% money as they are holding the site hostage but claims to stop after getting money.
You most likely already heard the story, but if not. A hacker group by the name Anonoymous Sudan are DDOSing Ao3 because it is an American website and it has Smut and Nsfw.
Do not believe this or be a bigot
I do not have the screenshots on me, however they are from a Telegram group chat where whoever is viewing appears to be Russian, due to the Russian text. Middle East Hacker groups typically don't display why they are attacking and most don't do big attacks meanwhile the same cannot be said for Russian hackers. For instance, the DDOS seems to be from multiple devices, if one device is DDOS-ing, it can easily go down because sending the data/files from one computer to a site or router can crash the device. This is something Russian hackers are known for. But also this isn't their first attack. They recently have gone after Microsoft Outlook, UPS, and Scandinavian Airlines. It may be run by or have a Islamic person, but that doesn't mean the entire group is. Or they are just pretending, so hate goes towards Sudan and those who worship Islam.
The website below can give more information but it is best to not take the word from the group in terms of their motive. You have no reason to believe them and there is definitely another motive than what is said, what is said could be true but they could also being paid to do this, or this is a tactic to get hate spread. The website article is clearly before the Ao3 DDOS-ing.
The group’s origins strongly point to it being a “Made in Russia” project with the kind of solid financial backing that regular hacktivists
