💪🏻Keeper of Tradition: The Serbian Gusle 🇷🇸
▪️This young man, dressed in the traditional attire of Central Serbia, plays the *gusle*—a single-stringed instrument that stands as a proud symbol of Serbian culture and heritage. Recognized by UNESCO and historians as uniquely Serbian, the *gusle* has been safeguarded as an integral part of Serbia’s cultural legacy, despite attempts by others to claim it as their own.
▪️For centuries, the *gusle* has carried the epic stories of Serbian heroes, battles, and identity. Its haunting melodies echo the spirit of the Serbian people, serving as a bridge between history and tradition.
▪️A timeless embodiment of Serbian pride, resilience, and cultural heritage. ✨🎶

The Adriatic Guslar. The Guslar is a poet and a bard who sings epic poetry of war, heroes, ancestors and difficult times. He sings in accompaniment of his instrument known as the "Gusle". Illyria got its name from the Greeks and it literally translates to the Land of the Lyres; in this case the lyre is the Gusle. The use of this instrument and the vocal style associated with it can be heard and observed in Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Albania and Croatia. The tone and music of the Adriatic Guslar is very reminiscent of antiquity and Old Europe; it is tribal sounding and eerie to those listening to it for the first time because of its lack of a comprehensive melody. Yet; because of the Homeric qualities of the Guslar's poetry, his music has thus provided an influence towards Western Music.
