It takes place between February 11’th and June 5’th 2027. We know this because on the contract Flo gives Will, it’s dated the 13’th of February (as shown in picture) and we had started the main story two days before that. On the contract that shows Modo is the owner of the team, it’s dated the 5’th of June. Even though we don’t know what day it is when that announcement takes place, it’s probably within a week or two of that date. We can tell it’s 2027 because it says the 2026-27 season on both contracts and Flo mentions that Will is only playing for the back half, meaning it’s already 2027.

Modo almost exclusively uses his tail to manipulate the ball, while Jett really only uses hers to dunk and pass.

There is a poster that just says “FREAK” with Modo on it in the diner, and he appears to be wearing his cheetah print shirt which means they may have done an interview or a photoshoot with him exclusively, likely when he first joined the league. There are also posters for the other characters- not just Jett. There’s actually two Modo posters in the diner, and the other one can also be seen in Hannah and Daryl’s home.

Modo’s locker is right next to Will’s, and he has three of his molted skins hanging, along with a suntanning light and a random bowl.

If I calculated the timeline right, since Jett has been on the team for fifteen years and Archie was also on the team ten years prior to Will joining, that would put her at five years when Will saw his first game. That means that it was probably Archie’s first or second year playing, and Lenny’s first year. (That also means that Archie’s first and only team, like Jett’s, was the Thorns) I don’t know about Modo and Olivia because no ages are specified, but I estimate the age of the players to go Jett, Archie, Lenny, Modo, Olivia, and then Will from oldest to youngest. I say Olivia is second last because she seems just much more into social media and her image to others, and that’s generally only something young people care about because older people grow out of it. This also means that Will is likely between the ages of 8-11 when he sees his first game, because he’s 18-21 when he first joins. In my opinion he’s like nine or ten because he gives off 20-year-old vibes.

Will’s mom’s name is Louise.

Grizz has a teddy bear tattoo, which implies one of three things. The first one is that this is a cartoonized version of a possible family member, the second is that there are stuffed animals in this universe, which means it’s normal to just casually have a plush of some random dude (which is the one I think is most likely judging by how Modo wears cheetah print clothes) or three, that it is called a “teddy bear” and implies the existence of Theodore Roosevelt.

Modo signs the contract in a purple pen, which I think is on-brand.

The Komodo dragon on the Magma team does not have any head spikes, even though both Modo and the young fan (the one that asks Jett to sign his ball) do. This either means that Magma Dragon has had his/her spikes removed, or that Modo and Young Dragon have gotten them like surgically added or something, maybe like a piercing? Or alternatively that it’s like hair and Magma Dragon is just bald. I think that Young Dragon definitely dyed his spikes purple to look like Modo (judging by how Komodo dragons don’t have purple spikes) but I’m not sure on if the spikes actually grow there naturally or not, although it does seem like it because his are a lot smaller than Modo’s.
