I was sporting my happy face 'gold medal' today after our Thai-X-Fit Olympic Challenge. Having stayed up late watching cycling last night, I put in a big effort at the gym this morning and emerged as a three-way gold medal winner!

First up was the ‘marathon’ - a couple of klicks down and up a bloody great hill. Back at the dojo, we hit the floor for six AMRAP rounds (if I remember rightly). We weren’t told how long the rounds were - 10 minutes we think - but they felt like an eternity: Basketball (non-stop wall balls) - won by me; weight lifting (clean and jerk); floor gymnastics (10 skips/1 burpee); synchronised swimming (in pairs, ankles locked, sit-ups passing medicine ball overhead) - joint winner; boxing (as many hard bag punches as possible); not sure what the handstand or modified push-ups were meant to represent but they were the worst.

Despite the deficiencies of TV coverage I am enjoying the Olympic sport and many golden moments - regardless of the nation: the USA's Kristen Armstrong's TT gold yesterday in time for her 43rd birthday today; Switzerland's great Fabian Cancellara taking out the men's TT just before his retirement (go the veterans!); The equestrian cross country (used to do a bit as a youngster and really enjoy watching it); Australia's swimming pool victories; and of course, our women's 7s rugby - simply, awesomely, outstanding!
