Hey look: it's a clean(er) #whiteknob '63 #Princeton! Thanks to all who sent me advice on how to clean up the grill, especially @hokusai22 who PMed me extensive instructions that prevented me from completely f*cking up both #grillcloth and baffle. 😁 It's still not pristine - some stains are still visible and there are some small tears, but its a lot better than it was, and at least it's the original grill cloth! 1959 #Gibson #ES140 3/4T with 1964 #Fender #5F1 #Champ amp. Essentially a #tweed in black #Tolex - pretty much the exact same amp as the tweed 1957 Champ (the amp below the #guitar) except for the Tolex and #grillcloth. Why? Long story short: when Fender switched from #tweedamps with top-mounted controls to Tolex with front-mounted controls, they just plumb ignored the Champ. The Champ stayed "tweed with top-mount" right up until they stuck black Tolex on it as a stop gap in 1964! We call this model the "Transitional" Champ, and there aren't that many of them around, so I am happy to have it!
